Marferd's POV

I was ready to face off against Betret as I was about to be the one who will complete the final commission of the day. I tried so hard, but I was already owned by his own affinity of fire as he overpowers my strength and my own strategy as he already has his way of killing. The way of killing makes him stronger than just to subdue without any bloodshed.

I saw the bodies who are being piled up, they were...

"..." I couldn't bear to look but to move forward to a complete fight. That's why I've been through just so I could be powerful as a knight of Alibreta. That was my aim for my father's legacy. He told me everything about how he was a knight who served Alibreta before he retired so he could stay with his family and protecting his village. Since I mastered everything, what is this then? Is this rigged?

"Now die, without-Ggh!" Betret cries in pain suddenly with his back turned.

"(What just happened?)" I thought. I was about to be finished for nothing but how did I get saved?

"Why you...!" He sees Y/n with his sword that is covered from his back. "How dare you!?" He scowls at Y/n.

"Y/n!" I scold him for interfering.

"Forget it, let's work together to take him down with an elemental strategy! That's what I always knew as a team!" Y/n denies my word.

"He's right! We can't win by ourselves independently!" Heiya stands beside him.

"You little...! What did you do to my best buddies!?" Betret looks around and sees all seven defeated by our hands. "Damn you brats! I'll sue once I get my hands on you!" He has his blade engulf in flames much more blazing than before.

"Aquin, take Marferd and heal his torso!" Heiya spoke to Aquin.

"Ok!" Aquin carries me away safely as she starts using her medical skills. "I can't believe that I have to heal you again..." She sighs.

Your POV

I managed to save Marferd as Aquin drags him back for healing. Heiya is with me while Ave is here for support. Having 1-on-1 would have been a fair fight, but having a battle like this is now personal and for the commission.

I face Betret as I go sword to sword. "Another sword user, huh. I guess someone's got to go down with a break!" He unleashes his sword with an intensive aura. Heiya warns me with caution as he goes on with a wide horizontal flame cut. Heiya jumps over while I avoid while going right. Heiya throws out her spear straight at him from above. "Damn!" Betret moves back with an avoiding the situation as I got behind him. I hold my feet to the brakes as I stand ready while casting my skill.

"Falcon Cleave!" I went up close with the fastest strike before he could act. I cut through with an azure blade. I break in with a braking speed while turning towards his front view. I swing horizontally back from my left. He makes a defensive block with his furious tension, managing to stop my attack.

"Hey, who said that you can attack my back?" His sword blazes out as he swings forward towards me. I make an immediate guarding. I took chip damage while being pushed back. He turns to Heiya as she already has her spear while going with a quick thrust. I stand with a complete stop while seeing her attacks being deflected by Betret's swordsmanship. "I thought that you guys are the better knights but rather to just live with nothing but trouble! No respect!" He slashes her back after blocking her low slash and parrying her horizontal swing to his chest.

Heiya has her steady stance while facing Betret as I try to move to a different spot to attack his blindspot. Betret makes a frontal assault towards Heiya as he steps forward, having his swings, clashing her with a forceful turn. She has her blade parrying at the tip of his blade and having it down while thrusting her spear towards his leg. Betret has his legs move fast, dodging away from her low stabbing strike. She blocks his horizontal counterstrike. She has her strength steady while striking back with the rear end of her spear to his left cheek. He steps back while I managed to slash him off guard.
