Chapter 44: Protecting But With The Cost of Life

Saline's POV

I stand to the person who was a former teammate, a friend who should have saved or helped my father. But instead, he took everything away, even my happiness as a family that my father and mother have worked so hard on. The man who is standing in front of me is Naze Gegzine, class, warrior of his sword.

"Having a friend to save you because he's kind...IS COMPLETELY WORTHLESS!" Naze steps up, lunges a fist straight towards my nose. However, in slow-motion, Y/n steps in, pushes me, and took a heavy hit in my stead while I collapse down to the floor.

"Y/n!" His friends exclaim while the others who are related to him grunt over Naze.

"That is enough!" The emotion was tense before the fight started. But the woman's voice that roared halts our movement completely. I was aggressive but I took a complete stop and yield my view over to the woman who walks in with her bodyguard. It was a grandmaster as a hero, Yuvae Faei Cyrias. Her bodyguard is Ange Vesan. "Now!" Yuvae growls at anyone in her way. Everyone steps away from her until her eyes are set to Y/n who is fallen to the floor. "What happened?" She walks towards him at the same time that Ange tells everyone to back away from the scene. Looking at Y/n's face, he seems to be heavily bruised after a heavy punch. He's bleeding from his major wound. "He's wounded, badly injured! Someone help him to the emergency room immediately!" Yuvae exclaims while the doctors and nurses carry him over to the major treatment area.

"..." I stand silent, being guilty of not being able to protect Y/n for saving my father.

"Grandmaster, I was just trying to..." Naze is trying to lie his way out of the scene.

"Who is responsible for his major injury?" Yuvae asks anyone in the hallway. Everyone is silent but not for long. Naze seems silent while seeing his right hand is stained with blood.

"He did it!" A male who is a friend of Y/n's pointed to Naze. "That *stupid hat* tried to beat the *boat* out of her at first!"

"I saw that happened too! Y/n was trying to protect Saline!" A female friend with Y/n supported his claim.

"Me too!" Everyone around us is supporting Y/n. With this, Naze has nowhere else to go with everyone surrounding him. The rules of the slate follow and monitor every move that he makes.

"Grandmaster, this isn't what I have...!" Naze is getting nervous.

"Naze Gegnize, I am very disappointed in you." Yuvae glares at him while his friends can't do anything for him. "You will be reported to the council palace for trial for your offense."

"Grandmaster Yuvae, the timing is perfect to perform a better trial!" That voice...!

"Freiyn P. Viechsel, I see you finished the investigation of the encryption of the wound on Emirthaus' back. Care to explain?" Yuvae asks her. Freiyn explains the alibi of Emirthaus' fate. Based on the fingerprints and magic that was made by Naze Gegnize, the crime that is accused as a traitor and a coward at the end. Based on how we want to act in his dreams, it would seem that there is a reason to have Naze killing Emirthaus at the back. "I see..."

"..." Yuvae turns to Naze with his sword drawn out towards her. Peerless, she strikes his slash attack with her sword at a faster speed. The impact strength knocked him back, down to the floor as he stays stumbled in fear over her strength. His sword is broken as well. "You would dare murder me because I bring justice to the poor?" Yuvae walks towards him. "Then your punishment shall be the fate where you will face the consequences as a lowly monster just like you put Emirthaus. Your allies shall be judged as well."
