"You did what?" Everyone hollered but it was Hope's shout that was the loudest.
"I-I was angry and I—" Kaura stammered. She clearly didn't mean for causalities to actually happen, it was an accident.
"See dad? I told you. She's always been a bag egg. What type of person would wish death on a student like that? A freaking sociopath. I mean we all hate each other but I wouldn't try to kill someone," Lizzie hissed, crossing her arms with accusation.
Penelope threw an arm around Kaura, trying to comfort her friend but she didn't find any.
"Lizzie, calm down. Let's break this down. When did the Genie show up? Tell me exactly what happened," Ric instructed, trying to maintain peace in the already chaotic room.
Kaura painfully explained what happened, leaving out no detail. Hope only shook her head with a disappointed glare. "You hate me so much that you wanted me dead?"
Kaura held her gaze, not breaking it as she said, "I didn't think it would be serious—"
"Wishing for someone else to die is serious," Hope shouted, taking provoking steps towards her. Mason stepped in her path, preventing her from walking forward any further.
"Look it was a mistake, guys. It's not every day that a monster shows up at your door," Penelope justified. "To be honest, I would have done the same."
"Of course you're defending her," Lizzie scoffed, rolling her eyes with extreme distaste.
The room erupted with further arguments and Kaura struggled to keep sense in her mind. More than anything, she wanted to return to her room and listen to music, listen to the silence and darkness that enveloped her. Because that was the only thing that could give her comfort.
"Why are you guys all blaming her?" Penelope was yelling. "We should be asking ourselves why the monster was even there in the first place. Notice how things go to shit the moment we welcome a member from the most dangerous family? The single species, the tribrid?"
"So now you're trying to spin this around and blame Hope? She was a victim thanks to the viper you're protecting," Lizzie snapped back, levelling Penelope's voice.
Hope took the information sensitively. This all has to be my fault. Her family was known for enemies and as the species she is, all sorts of people were after her. The first and only tribrid. She wanted to call Aunt Freya and declare that she was ready to go home. But there would be a risk of leading whatever the hell this was back to the city. Hope was just confused.
"I think it's funny that Kaura makes a mistake and you're calling her the bad egg but when you screw up and throw a tantrum, 'accidentally' destroy the kitchen, you blame it on personal issues," Raf spat. He pointed an accusing finger at the witch and it was clear that he was prepared to throw Lizzie across the room. "Cut her some slack."
Landon cleared his throat. "If anything, this all ties in with me. I've been having dreams."
"With all due respect, now is really not the time," MG warned, shaking his head.
But Landon continued. "I've been seeing blue mist, white bright stars and I assume that represented the Genie." Hope nodded to confirm.
"So this is your fault too? Perfect. The two unwelcome species are reaping havoc. Are we shocked? The answer is no," Lizzie clapped with a fake smile.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me about the dreams, Landon?" Raf asked with a tone of concern. They were brothers from another unknown mother and they told each other everything. It worried Raf that his best friend was pulling away.
