Akaashi rested his hands on the window seal, the window open. Bokuto mirrored Akaashi's position. Bokuto was laughing hysterically because of Akaashi's joke. He had never known Akaashi had such a funny sense of humor. Akaashi chuckled lightly as he took a mental picture of this image, this moment. He wanted to keep it in his memory forever. "Koutarou! Dinner's ready!" Anzu called out for him. "Uh, I'm not hungry now!" Akaashi replaced his facial expression with a clueless one. " Bokuto, It's alright you go and eat. I know you're hungry."
"Nah. I'd rather stay and chat with you. plus-"
"Akaashi! Dinner is now ready!"
"Well, I guess that settles it. Talk after dinner?"
"Yeah, sure!" Seconds later, Anzu walked in." I don't care if you are talking to Akaashi, come eat dinner, he's not going to disappear." Anzu said jokingly as she rolled her eyes while the two boys could be spotted wearing a light coat of embarrassed blush." I-I need to go eat dinner now. It was nice seeing you Anzu." Akaashi waved lazily as he walked out of his room and into his kitchen. The only thoughts on his mind were: when am I going to tell mom and dad? It spiraled inside his mind. That's when he remembered; Bokuto said he would be there with him. Akaashi's body eased and tensed less, he wouldn't have to do it alone. But, seeing Bokuto's dad's reaction didn't help n the slightest. Remembering that fateful day brought a scowl on his face he couldn't quite get rid of. " Are you alright, Keiji?"
"Hm? Sorry, oh yeah. I'm fine. Just...thinking." Half-truth. So what?
"Well, what were you thinking about? I mean, you looked pretty angered by it." Akaashi could see his dad had nudged his mother, but a reason he didn't know why. Perhaps it was just an accident and it slid his mind, thinking of an excuse he could use to get his parents off his trail. Akaashi opened his mouth and words were slipping his tongue but he noticed his mom's reaction to being nudged. She chuckled. It was just so random. It seemed there was more to it than what first met the eye. Akaashi wondered. " Akaashi?"
"Uh, sorry. I was just thinking about all the homework I'm slapped with. I'm gonna have to do it all, and everyone knows homework isn't very fun." Akaashi forced himself to laugh. He almost choked on his own laugh. He was overwhelmed at his bitterness. He hated lying to his parents and rarely did it. His laugh was cold and meaningless, but still, it sounded sweet. Well, as much as it needed to be. Which wasn't much. But it was happy--no-, happy-sounding, at the very least. Akaashi found himself lost in his unrecognizable self. But he couldn't tell what part about himself he found unrecognizable. Was it lying to his parents? Was it dating Bokuto? Was it his sexuality? He was constantly buried in his own thoughts, no matter what they were. Whether they were self-doubt thoughts, happy Bokuto thoughts, or just where his mind would go and he thought outside the box, he was creative and his thoughts just flowed. Sometimes he had to prevent himself from thinking because sometimes he knew it would only end badly for him, self-torturing himself. Sometimes he let his mind flow like water. Sometimes it would end badly for him. Other times, it would end on a sweet note, or maybe nonchalant. Akaashi sometimes wondered if it was because of his mood. But his thoughts never stayed for long in his head, they were quickly and easily run out by the next thought. After dinner, thoughts rushed around in his head. It consumed and ate him up inside. It was hard to concentrate on the world around him.Bokuto's pov
Bokuto hurriedly ate his food and got up and was rushing to his room when he felt someone tug at his arm. "Nuh, uh ah! We are going to be a nice civilized family that has nice conversations at the dinner regardless if you have finished your food, Koutarou."
"But Akaa-"
"Isn't done eating yet. And, probably won't be finished until further time to come." Bokuto groaned and, annoyed, slopped himself onto the chair he was formerly sitting on. Anzu chuckled. "Is it so bad to just talk to me?"
"No, it's just-"
"Well, if Akaashi is taking precious time with us together then I guess- A wild and an obvious to Anzu of panic rushed over Bokuto's face as he swallowed sharply. " Wh-what?"
"You won't be able to see him."
"Wha-what?!" Bokuto's heart and stomach dropped heavily as his heart shattered dramatically, but, necessarily dramatic. "Thinking about it, I don't really think you should be dating anyone. You're not ready for the hard truths of relationships. I mean, take a look at what happened to your father and me. Plus, you are young. It'll only hurt you more." Bokuto trembled with fear and his heart was close to beating out his chest. His body was tensed and seeing relaxed was impossible. Anzu broke into hysterical laughter. " I'm teasing you, Koutarou." Bokuto's body only half eased. " really? Just kidding?"
"Yeah," Anzu noticed how pale Bokuto's face was following with his white knuckles and how his hands gave way and untightened from fists after she had said 'yeah'. Bokuto's chest sank back into his body and he sighed of relief. Anzu watched a sweat drop drip from Bokuto's forehead to the table. " Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Bokuto forced out a laugh, it was meant to be a triumphant one, but sounded nervous, unsure, and, well, forced. " What makes you think you tricked me? You didn't scare me." Bokuto's voice trembled which didn't help his voice sound confident, which he wanted. "Mmhmm.." Anzu nodded suspiciously. "You really love that boy, huh?" Bokuto nodded sheepishly. " I-uh, yeah..." Anzu smiled as she nodded taking in her son's response. " well, make sure he knows it." Bokuto laughed. " You're giving me relationship advice?" Bokuto said through wild laughs. " Hey!"
"I'm sorry but, you?"
"Yes! I've had many love lives previously!"
"And where are they now? Hm? How did that end?"
"hey! I just got out of a healthy relationship!"
"Three things: Yesh, you just got out of it. Healthy relationship? I mean- sure, you can believe that if you want. And lastly, that man? What is your taste? It's derived!"
"And yours is...?"
"Was that an insult to Akaashi?!"
"I- No! That's not what I--oh shit. I might just die today. You're obsessed with the guy and I just insulted him..." Bokuto laughed heavily. " I'll let you off the hook this time. But do it again, I dare you!"
"Okay, okay! Akaashi should be done eating now. He may be waiting, so go now." Anzu shooed her hand away dismissively. " So eager to send me away!" Bokuto pulled a hand to his chest dramatically to show fake pain. " Oh, Bokuto. I don't get you! One second, it's ' ugh why do I have to talk to my mother' another second it's ' so eager to send me away!' " Anzu made a wining voice, mimicking Bokuto when she said the sentences Bokuto said--similarly enough so, anyway. " Alright, see you later mom!" Bokuto walked off happily with a grin on his face. When he walked into his room, he saw that, yes indeed, Akaashi was waiting for him.Why would he want it any other way?
A/n I hope you like that chapter, I really enjoyed writing it. Idk y. I feel like I just really like this chapter a lot. I really didn't expect to do any more long chapters but here I am. I feel like it's because I didn't expect to have any inspiration because I didn't write for a long time and that was because I didn't have any inspiration but I've been having a lot of Ideas. Weirdly enough, all these ideas just come to me in school Idk y tho. I was literally doing a test while thinking of ideas and the room was silent and I gasped ever so oud and I just had to didn't I? So, of course, the whole class looks at me.
also, any Olivia Rodrigo fans here? 'Cause, I'm obsessed with her new song: Good 4 u. If u haven't listened to it, do so. While writing this chapter I'm just listening to 1-hour version just vibing. And obviously, I'm obsessed with driver's license, all I want and deja vu--hmm, wonder where I've heard that. Listen to that song, too.
