It was the next day. Bokuto had fallen asleep in Akaashi's arms. Through the window, Akaashi saw the mailman as it was about to post something through the mailbox, but Bokuto's. He went outside and took the letter from him instead and passed it to Anzu. "Hey, uh, this was what the mailman had. It's for you."
"Oh. Thank you, Akaashi." As soon as Anzu opened the letter, her face, along with her smile, dropped. "I-it's from...the hospital." Her voice cracked. Akaria hugged her for a brief moment. Akaashi turned back around and walked back to Anzu. "Wh-at?"
"It's for Koutarou."
"What does it say?"
"....." Anzu examined the letter. " He needs a daily check-up for his FFI. He needs to fill out a form. It has questions such as: ' have you been able to sleep lately?' And the doctors will decide if he should stay in the hospital-- and if so, how long?" Anzu said on the verge of tears. Akaria hugged Anzu again. Once they broke, Anzu squeezed Akaria's hand tightly as a tear dropped. "So, when do I go?" Bokuto's voice startled everyone.
"You're awake, Kou?"
"Yeah," Bokuto shot Akaashi a fake smile. Akaashi frowned and clenched his fists. "What's wrong, Keiji?"
"Don't do that." He mumbled.
"Do what?"
"Smile fakely. You don't need to put on a facade for everyone else. You're too damn selfless. I hate it." Akaashi walked past Bokuto, walked upstairs, and entered his room leaving a quiet slam from the door he had rather aggressively slammed. " In a weeks' time. That's when it is." Bokuto went back upstairs. " Hey, I'm sorry, Keiji." Akaashi breathed a chuckle bitterly under his breath. "You don't need to apologize. I should be the one saying sorry. Which I am. "
"It's ok..."
"It's just, I hate that you have to pretend that you're so happy and enthusiastic when I know you're hurting. And if you hide it, you go through it alone. And I'm here so that you don't have to go through it alone!" Bokuto hugged him tightly. " I should be comforting you, Koutarou."
"What happened to Kou?"
Akaashi laughed. "What did I do to deserve you, Keiji." Akaashi was hugging Bokuto and he tightened his grip. " You were yourself." Bokuto smiled into Akaashi's shoulder. " I don't want to lose you, Kou."
"I'm not leaving. Sorry, but you don't get a break from me. I'm here forever."
"Good."One week later...
Bokuto had spent last week's nights at Akaashi's so he could sleep before the check-up. Anzu and Akaashi went with Bokoto to the hospital. "Have you been sleeping recently?" Asked the doctor. " Well, I don't usually sleep....but I always sleep with Kei- my boyfriend." Akaashi blushed a little. Those words sent chills down his spine but he brushed those thoughts away, knowing now wasn't the right time. "That's good to hear. Usually, a month ago is when you 100% lose the ability to sleep. But, if you can fall asleep with a certain person, it's best to sleep like that every night thus not needing to worry about the consequences of not being able to sleep. In fact, you should be starting to lose weight and get hallucinations by now. But, since you are sleeping, that shouldn't be happening. You don't look like you are losing the rapid amount of weight, but we still need to get you on a scale."
"Alright." Akaashi sighed happily. Anzu sighed of relief. Once Bokuto was on the scale, the doctor looked at his weight. He had lost some, but a normal amount an 18-year-old teen should. " okay, that's good to see. You have lost 3 pounds."A/n Idk if that is an appropriate amount. I googled ' how many pounds is it normal for an 18 yr old boy teen to lose in 2-4 months It said 2 pounds, but, I just put an extra pound cuz he plays volleyball- Idk I'm stupid ok--but it doesn't matter. All that does is that Bokuto is ok.
"And, I doubt it, but I still need to ask, Have you had any hallucinations?"
"No." All the other three people in the room replied saying.
"Alright. Well, that's good. You can always get a prescription for sleeping medicine, but since you are sleeping, I don't think you'll need it. You can always ask me for it, though. I'll be happy to help. That's all. You can go home, Koutarou, I see no need fit for you to stay in the hospital."
"Great! Thank you, doc." Bokuto exclaimed followed by Anzu.
"Yes, thank you, doctor."
"Oh, and Koutarou."
"Hm?"
"You should thank that boyfriend of yours. He's keeping you alive by helping you sleep."
"Yeah..." Bokuto said drifting his daze to Akaashi as Akaashi blushed. "Thanks, Keji." The doctor smiled at the three and walked away. The three also walked away, satisfied with Bokuto's health.
A/n: so that was pretty short, but I still hope you liked it.
