Love Only Happens Once

Chapter 2

As I was walking back to the dorm room I couldn’t help but to still be shocked at how he actually came on time. I mean HE ACTUALLY CAME ON TIME!!!!!!!!! Then he actually did work and may I say he found some pretty good points for the project. Like who knew his brain actually worked. I was so deep in thought that I walked right into Gabriel.

“Hey sexy, you all right?” he emphasized on the sexy part.

With my hand on my head I looked up at him and asked, “Why is your chest so damn hard?”

He smirked. In 1…2...3... “ That isn’t the only thing!” He said while laughing.

“Gabriel shut up! What are you doing around here?”

“ I was waiting for you, you were supposed to hang out with me today!!!...Instead I got stuck with Sasha who wouldn’t shut up about Jeremy…the Torture!!!!!!!!!!!!” he growled.

“OMG I’m so sorry, I totally forgot.” I started rambling about astrology and being paired up with Jeremy and working on the project tonight with him and discovering that he had a working brain and how my life is basically over because now Sasha will want every detail of my life and find out how rude I was to him. She will kill me, which I think is worth it. By the time I was done he just looked at me blankly and then burst out laughing. I didn’t get what was so funny.

“And I thought I had it worst tonight your life totally sucks damn!” I smacked him ugh!!! 4-5 years of dealing with him and you would think he grew up by now! I met Gabriel my sophomore year of high school. He was the cool kid that loved talking to everybody because he didn’t see the point of excluding anyone even after what my ex-boyfriend did to me. He always stuck up for me and stayed by my side. Not the typical popular guy except that he slept with anything that was willing. He is the king of man-whorism if that’s even real. However that man-whore is one of my most trusted best friends and I love him just the way he is. He always knows how to brighten up my day whenever I need a friend.

“Ugh! Grow up and help me!!!!! … Shit Sasha is coming hide me!!!” I basically was panicking at that very moment. I really believed she was coming to kill me!

“Haley stop being so silly!!! I’m not going to kill you…yet!!! I have to interrogate you first and then asked why you were being such a bitch to Jeremy!” she said nonchalantly.

I was pleading with Gabriel to get me out of this one!!! Before I lost my head.

“Sasha calm down you act like he is your boyfriend or something!! Haley didn’t do anything wrong except defend herself before he had a chance to offend her. You won’t do anything to her or I’ll tell Jeremy something very embarrassing about like how you fart in your sleep sometimes.” He smirked. I laughed. She shrieked.

“You wouldn’t dare!” she proclaimed

“Oh, I would” he retorted I knew he wouldn’t but she didn’t need to know that.

“Ugh! I will get you guys back trust me!”

“Yeah yeah you want to come out with us to get some ice cream I’ll even buy a large strawberry cheesecake ice cream if you let this all go!” She stopped mid-step and twirled so fast that you would have thought she never gotten into an argument two seconds ago.

“Ugh…fine!!” she responded.

Thank God!! The rest of the night went perfect. Sasha let me live for another night. Gabriel became our personal comedy show and we didn’t run into anyone we didn’t want to see. The only bad side was that I had to wake up for class tomorrow morning. Ehh! I made it this far how much worse could it get. Right?

~ The next day ~

Surprisingly Astrology went by smooth. Then the rest of the day was a total drag. I successfully managed to do “nothing that would embarrass Sasha”. When she gave me that for a pep talk this morning I could only roll my eyes like c’mon really? Was that really necessary?!

“Now remember what we discuss this morning…play nice, treat him with respect and invite him to hang out so you can introduce us! Okay!” she demanded.

I laughed. “No, not a chance in hell! But nice try though” I walked away from her and went straight into class when she said that and when I turned around he was about two feet away and I’m pretty sure he heard everything she said.

I still couldn’t get last night out of my head. Her face when I came in on time and especially her face when she saw that I was actually doing work. I mean how much of a stereotype does she think I am? Like damn a little faith here! By the time I got to Astrology Haley and her friend Sandy, Santi, Sansa I don’t know her name were standing in front of the class. I could practically hear their whole conversation and let’s just say I’m pretty sure it was about me especially with the way Haley responded. I don’t know why but now it’s like my mission to get her to like me and figure out why she doesn’t. I walked into the classroom and took my seat by her. This morning we were going to at least have some type of conversation because she couldn’t ignore me forever.

“Hey” I said with a head nod.

“What do you want?”

“Haley why are you so grumpy? All I do is try to be nice and talk to you and your just plain rude in return” I snapped.

“Awww the poor baby’s heart is breaking…oops I never really gave a hell” she snapped back.

“You know being a bitch doesn’t make your appearance appealing it makes you look downright sad” she simply glared at me

“I never did anything to you yet you hate me. So here’s a question give me one good reason why YOU have the right to hate me? Not everyone else’s yours!” I replied fuming nothing but anger 

She just looked at me. She couldn’t believe that I was really mad and quite frankly I couldn’t believe it either. “Damn, you’re really taking this to heart. My reason for not liking you is your persona period. I don’t like almost everything about you. The parts I do like are the obvious appearance wise.” She shrugged.

“You don’t know anything about me but you don’t like me. You assume that I’m everything people say I am. If you actually took the time to figure me out instead of snapping at me every chance you get you would find out a lot about me that I’m not afraid to show” I replied.

She was quiet for a while. Then she finally spoke, “I can’t believe I’m doing this right now…Do you want to hang out with my friends and me sometime?” she asked her head facing down.

I just looked at her stunned. Did she really just ask me that? It has to be her friend who got into that thick skull of hers but I’ll take it. “Yeah, sure…how about tomorrow? I have practice and a couple classes tonight." 

“All right you can meet us at my dorm…Weins Hall…it’s not too far from here” she responded.

“Okay cool” I think I said it a little too cheery because she gave me a look

“Wait, what are we going to do tonight?”

“Um, I guess we can go bowling? ...I’m not sure but it will definitely be something casual so you don’t have to dress up” she said it so casually that I thought my little speech got through to her, then I realized her friend Sanska was standing right behind her…so much for hope.
