Love Only Happens Once

Chapter 4

~ 2 weeks later ~

Haley

It’s been two weeks since I last spoke to Sasha. I mean what was her problem. Her words had a double meaning and everyone at that table knew exactly what it meant except for Jeremy. We were having fun, chilling out and then to bring that up of all sudden because of… what? I don’t even know what could possibly make her say that! She had apologized to me at least 6 times a day for the past week. I would have accepted them if it wasn’t for the fact that every time I asked her why she had said what she said she couldn’t give me a clear cut answer. All she would say is “you don’t want to know trust me” or “that isn’t really important”, etc. so it isn’t really important enough for me to accept it just yet. Maybe in another day or two I will. It got to the point where I didn’t talk to her when we were in the dorm room. I didn’t even go to school with her anymore. At one point even Jeremy was concerned. Then he quickly let it go because he thought maybe I’d snap on him if he asks too much. I wasn’t though I was too exhausted trying to figure out why someone who is supposed to be my best friend would treat me like this out of the blue. 

I went through the school days like a robot on autopilot and I wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

“Hey Haley” someone said. I hadn’t recognized the voice at the moment. So when they asked,

“You wanna hang out afterschool today” I responded to the unfamiliar voice by saying

“Right because hanging out with total strangers is my thing.”

“Oh c’mon Haley don’t be like that we have some history together. It’s not good but we were something special am I right?”  the unfamiliar voice said. Now I was totally confused because I did not recognize that voice. I drew a complete blank and so I decided to finally look up. Huh! My day just seems to be getting better and better. Standing before me with the cockiest grin he could have mustered up is no other than my ex-boyfriend Liam Wendell. The biggest ass in the world has arrived. You think a girl could get a break around her.

“What do you want?” I responded back in disgust. 

“I feel like we need to catch up and get back together like old times? No? I know you missed me and I’ve missed you? Why not break the silence and bring the uproar of music?” he sadly said. I hope he didn’t spend all night trying to think of that. It was just sad in all sense of the word.

“Hmmmm let me ponder…HELL NO!!!!! Have you lost your damn mind? What in the world would make you think I want you back?” I half screamed.

“Oh come on! You’ve had no boyfriend ever since we broke up. I see you’ve finally let that loser friend of yours go. You’re ready to let go of that loser life of yours. I can bring you to that next level don’t be stupid about this decision.” He responded. I just look at this this IDIOT! He didn’t and couldn’t have just said that to me. I think he has officially lost his mind.

“You have to be fucking kidding me! You can’t be that stupid! To think something so idiotic, repulsive, disgusting and ugh! I can’t believe I dated you!” I replied while grinding my teeth.

“Oh come on you know you miss this don’t front because you think it makes you look better it doesn’t” he said 

“She doesn’t miss THAT!! Why would she miss you when she has me” Jeremy said. I was shocked he even did that for me.

Why do you think Jeremy stood up for her? Will that make her think differently about Jeremy or will she think he has an ulterior motive?
