Over a century ago, beings that prey on humans suddenly appeared. Their overwhelming strength and numbers quickly pushed humanity to the brink of extinction. The surviving humans constructed three fifty-meter walls, Maria, Rose, and Sina, which brought them a century of peace. However, in the year 845, the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan suddenly appeared and destroyed both the outer and inner gates of Shiganshina, proving that Wall Maria is no longer a safe home for the humans. All the surviving citizens of Shiganshina were forced to retreat to Wall Rose in Trost District and started a new life without any incident for the five years.

The Colossal Titan reappeared and destroyed the gate of Trost in 850, Titans once again moved in to feast on human blood and flesh, but all the civilians managed to evacuate without a single loss of life, except for the soldiers fighting them. The Titan assault on Trost District resulted in many casualties, owing to the fact that the elite Scout Regiment was absent at the time. They had just left that morning on a scouting mission outside.

Flashback before the Colossal Titan reappeared

The elite Scout Regiment was walking through the streets with their horses. People at the left and ride side, with bright, happy faces are cheering them on. The people were putting all hopes on Commander Erwin and his squad because none of them were dead or even injured in their past Scout Missions.

Citizen: It is here! The main unit of the Scout Regiment!

Citizen 2: Commander Erwin! Give those Titans a real thrashing!

Citizen 3: Look over there! It is Levi Heichou! They say he is as mighty as an entire brigade!

As all the Scout elites are passing through, Eren could not help but kept staring at Levi with his admiring eyes, not caring that Levi has an emotionless face.

Little did Eren and the citizens know is that Levi is annoyed and frustrated by the crowds cheering and staring at him as if he is like their idol.

Note: Levi is tall exceeding 180 cm in this fan fiction. I feel bad for him being a shorty of most of the characters in the anime. Lol.

Levi: Tch! Talk about annoying...

Hanji: If their looks of envy catch sight of how fussy you are, it will crush them. Come on, do not let the people see that look.

Levi: Hmph...

As soon as the Scout Regiment reached the outer gate of Trost, the gate is slowly being pulled up to allow the Scouts to move out. Levi is still in his bored, emotionless face and Hanji is getting more and more excited to see Titans with her own eyes.

Hanji: The Titans await outside...I wonder what kind we will see this time! I hope we find some Abnormals! That would be great!

Levi: I would say there is already an Abnormal right here.

Hanji: What!? Where!? Please tell me!

She was looking like everywhere with her eyes widened as Levi slowly moved his hand towards her before grabbing and turning her head to face his.

Levi: Right here.

Scout: Move out!

The gate is being raised up completely as the Scouts began to walk out with the crowd kept cheering them on from behind. Scouting the exterior and establishing bases for expansion. Entrusted with these duties, the Scout Regiment stands at the apex of humankind's knowledge. Survival rates have increased dramatically thanks to the resourcefulness of some members, but excursions into Titan territory still result in casualties exceeding thirty percent. That is simply how powerful the Titans are compared to humans.
