Over a century ago, beings that prey on humans suddenly appeared. Their overwhelming strength and numbers quickly pushed humanity to the brink of extinction. The surviving humans constructed three fifty-meter walls, Maria, Rose, and Sina, which brought them a century of peace.

However...in the year 845, the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan suddenly appeared. They destroyed one of humanity's walls, and with it, everyday life. Humanity was forced abandoned Wall Maria, lost twenty percent of its population and a third of its territory, and as no other options, but to retreat behind Wall Rose. For a few years, so far there was no incident in Trost District. Things have been going well until...

In the year 850, the Colossal Titan reappeared and demolished another wall, and allowed the Titans inside once again. Things were not going well as the team holding them off were all wiped out. The reinforcements sent to hold them off failed to hold the off the Titans. 

There was a problem in the evacuation that delayed the citizens from getting in the inner gate. The giant cart could not go in and was stuck, preventing the people from getting in. Later, Mikasa forced the cart to be pulled out and all the people thanked her for what she did. The entire populace was evacuated two hours later. Not a single person was eaten by a Titan...save for the soldiers who fended them off and died in the line of duty.

Mikasa (in her mind): Ereh, as long as you are alive, I can do anything!

Later

The sky was still raining and the soldiers outside were still having their hands full with the Titans, there were some arguments back in headquarters between the supply team and their superior officer of the Garrison Regiment. The supply team begged them to stay because they would be defenseless without them, but the Commander had to go to reorganize the reinforcements.

Cadet: Please wait, Captain! Should the Titans attack, we supply soldiers will not be able to hold this position on our own!

Cadet 2: Please, sir! You have to stay here! If the Titans get in, we will not be able to resupply the soldiers if they come back here!

Commander: Step aside, Cadets. I must reorganize the reinforcements now.

Cadet 3: Behind the safety of the inner gate, you mean? Right, Commander?

Commander: What the hell are you trying to say? I will have you know, I am following regulations! Obeying established regulations is a soldier's duty!

Cadet 2: But, sir! If we lose this position-

Commander: That is enough!

Before the Cadets could even say anything, the Commander threatened them with a blade facing straight at them, making them sweat a lot.

Commander: Open your mouth again and I will be forced to sentence you for treason where you stand!

The supply team had no choice, but to obey the Commander. As for the others outside, things are not going well as they were running out of gas and blades. Soon the Titans will overwhelm Trost and dominate it. Mikasa was scouting through the city to look for Eren and his team, but so far she could not find him. She saw soldiers were discussing about things on a roof instead of going over the wall.

Mikasa (in her mind): Why isn't anyone going over the wall? The evacuation has already been completed and none of the civilians were eaten.

Mikasa (in her mind): I am sure they heard the bell signaling us to withdraw...

At the corner of her eyes, she was shocked to see the headquarters being overwhelmed by the Titans from quite a distance. Inside, the supply team was hiding underneath the tables, not daring to move anywhere because the Titans are just outside the building and smaller Titans are already inside the supply room. When one of the Cadets peeked over the table, a Titan was already looking, but it luckily did not notice him.
