In the year 845, the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan suddenly appeared. They destroyed one of humanity's walls and everyday life with it. Humanity abandoned Wall Maria, lost twenty percent of its population and a third of its territory, and was forced to retreat behind Wall Rose.

In the year 850, in Trost District, humanity let the Titans advance once again deeper inside the Walls. And Eren Jaeger who had fallen prey to one of them, emerged from a mysterious Titan.

Before the cannon fired

All the remaining cadets and veteran soldiers are now resting behind the inner gate of Trost. They are to gather their strength and await further orders from their superiors while waiting in multiple columns.

One of the cadets was freaked out after experiencing the horrors of the battle in Trost, not wanting to go back to where his comrades were devoured right in front of him.

Daz: Marco. I cannot do this anymore. I cannot fight the Titans anymore!

Marco: What has really gotten into you?

Daz: My friends got eaten right in front of me! My friends got killed, yet I did not feel any sadness or hate at all!

Daz: Deep down, I just felt glad it was not me. But it will be my turn next. I have realized what our job is.

Daz: We need to keep fighting until we eventually get eaten! Well, screw that! I would rather end things now!

He was about to end his own life with his blade, but Marco restrained him from letting that happen and tried to calm him down.

Marco: Stop! Pull yourself together! You are not the only one, you know! We are all fighting back fear! Just look at Sasha!

Sasha: What?

Marco: Even after what she went through, she is still an outstanding soldier!

Suddenly Sasha screamed at the top of her lungs as she looked at the ground while hugging her stomach, frightening the others.

Sasha: My stomach hurts. Could you please consider me one of the wounded?

Marco: What?

Daz: I cannot go on!

Marco: Stop! Stop it!

Jean: That gag order is definitely warranted. The situation is bad enough as it is. If they found out about Eren...

Just then a loud sound of a cannon shot occurred, alerting the troops. From the sound of it, it seemed to be quite near from where they are standing by.

Reiner: Cannon fire?

Jean: Why only one shot?

Cadet: Look! Smoke! It is inside the wall!

Cadet 2: Hey! What is happening?

Cadet 3: What is going on? Did they break through the water gate?

Cadet 4: Impossible! That is the sturdiest place of all!

Cadet 5: They must have just set off the shell by accident!

Cadet 6: Still, why is there so much smoke?
