LOVE SO PASSION

CHAPTER 14

     
About three hours later, spent talking with Martha, he eventually called her back. Wow, she was married to a doctor who was based in London. They  had met three years earlier when Martha was almost committing suicide, she was full of emotions while narrating her ordeals.

Elvis was broken afresh knowing what his beloved friend had been through, because she choose to love someone who didn't deserve it.
But he was gladden that she was happily married and expecting a baby.

Above all they were coming back to Nigeria to spend the holidays,plus a relative of her husband was getting married and wanted them present in persons.

Teasingly she asked if he had married or whether he was in relationship, smiling solemnly he assured her that she will find out when she returns.

They concluded after three hours of nonstop conversation.
Over excited he dashed out to share with his parents about them. Surprised, that Malvis was still around despite the hour.

The newly engaged couple sat so close in deep conversation, but that didn't hurt him as it were earlier although the throbbing pain was still there somewhere in his heart.

Seeking his parents he announced, "Mum,dad guess what? He chirped full of smiles," what? they both asked expectantly... Malvis and Sofia had  turned to their direction with Malvis wondering why he was excited instead of being in pain and tears.
Curious he paid close attention.

"I came in contact with Martha," he said. Looking a bit confused, Elijah and Charlotte tried placing the name with face until Charlotte remembered Martha Green.

"Wow, praise God ! I hope  all is well. And how are her parents, Charlotte asked.
"All is well, except that she is no longer " Green" but " Damilola".Elvis said admist genuine smiles

This new information got Malvis in hot sweat despite the air conditioner functioning so well, coupled with the cool weather. Martha was his ex the reason he had gone to prison, getting uncomfortable he decided it was time to move.

Getting up he quickly interupted the good time the family were having.
 

Unsure of what to say,he quickly rose from the sofa and removing his hands from Sofia's. Surprised Sofia asks him If everything is okay. "I  need to get going,I have a lot to cover up" to add salt to injury he adds " you know we have a wedding to plan and you deserve a bigger,better wedding"he said admist looking at Elvis.

Looking away,he takes in a soft sigh remembering what had happened earlier,the proposal. Comfortable he looks back at the lovestruck couple, approaching them he helps Sofia stand and brings their hands together.

Muttering nonsense in his mind Malvis wonders what he meant by this uncalled for action. "I give you two my blessings and I support you two. I will also be praying for you two,"he concluded in a happy smile.

Malvis wasn't in for plans to ruin his happy mood but for a way to find out more about Martha and what she might be up to.

Eventually leaving the Chukwuma's mansion,he drives straight to one of his hotels in town. He then calls a private investigator to find out about Martha and he needed to cover up his tracks before he is found out.  When he had settled with the investigator he proceeds to ensure he gets married to Sofia as soon as possible.

Later that evening,Sofia had gotten to know that Martha was to return in the next two months,that she was also expecting a baby. She felt a pang of jealousy with the way Elvis spoke about her. She has never seen him so animated about any lady before,his eyes shone with joy and untold happiness. Yes she saw the same emotions in his parents eyes but his seems to surpass theirs.

Still not satisfied with the little,hush,hush responses she got about the lady in question.
She decided to ask outrightly during dinner. "Who is Martha?" She asked and she didn't miss the look on their faces ranging from surprise to wow,finally she has asked".

She looked directly at  Elvis," I am waiting?"she could hear a slight irritation in her voice. Thinking of a way to answer her sudden question without revealing the real truth, Charlotte takes the opportunity.
"My dear,Martha and her family have been friends with us for years. But we haven't seen them for some  years now,she concluded.

Still not satisfied she leaves it at that,but she was more curious with the response she noticed on Malvis.
What could he have with Martha.
