CHAPTER 16

Not wanting to start an argument with him, Elvis speaks up. "Malvis, as much as you are my business partner you are on the way to become part of my family. Sofia is the dearest daughter to my parents and as well my "sister" he finally voiced it out although his heart called him out as a liar.

Standing up he continued to talk while looking at Malvis, "I wouldn't take it lightly with you should any harm come to her",I will ensure that you pay dearly for any harm that befalls her from your part, "he concluded.

Not fazed but ready to take up the challenge, Malvis stands up as well, still looking into Elvis eyes intently.

"Be reassured my dear partner, your " sister"is in safe hands. So I will meet your family tomorrow and tell them my intentions"; he summarized.
With a clear but suspicious mind Elvis extends his hand for a friendly hand shake.

Watching him drive off Malvis looks unsettled while remembering the look Elvis gave him earlier when he had mentioned his intentions. No matter what he was going to marry Sofia before his ex returns.

Driving home, Elvis began going down memory lane. He felt so well that the reaction he had towards Malvis request had happened before. Yes that was with Martha, oh his heart skipped again knowing he would soon meet her. Yes, that was the period she had told him of her engagement and he had gone to see the young man whom she would spend the rest of her life with. The same way he had laid out his words to Malvis he had done same to that young man... parking his car at a spot. A thought crossed his mind again"where could "Malvis " be,
picking up his phone he makes a call.

It's was six in the evening when Martha and her husband arrived at their family home. Everyone was so excited to see her, most especially with the baby bump peeking through her jacket and the handsome young man she held firmly and affectionately.

Beaming with smiles, she walks into her grandmother-in-law's embrace... This will be the first time seeing all of her husband's extended family exempting his parents and siblings who were still in London to return few days to the weddings.

After much introductions and warm welcomes she and her husband retire into their bedroom. She had noticed how silent he has been and so mindful of her every move she became curious, once their luggages had been brought in and the door shut.

She walks up to him to help him remove his jacket, lovingly she rubs his shoulder and embraces him taking in his familiar scent. He tenderly clapses her hands and kisses her knuckles.

Ever since Martha had given her heart a chance to love she has never regreted it. Her husband and herself met in an unconventional way,she was drowned in depression, suicidal thoughts and deep loss. He was first her doctor taking her through therapy, then friend through beautiful text messages, chats and emails.

Her parents grateful for all he had done for their only child, became enamoured with him and in time friends to his parents. She had fully recovered and was in her right senses but wasn't ready to love again no matter who it was. There wasn't life and feeling in her heart again to love a man,the betrayal from her ex has destroyed that part of her heart.

And then slowly but steadily he found his way into her heart,tried and true she fell madly in love with him but refused to admit it not until when she almost lost him. Since then till now she has always thanked God for his life and her second chance.

Coming back from that memory so dear to her,she asks him what had been troubling him. Reassuringly he pressed her hands and turned to look at her.

Looking into his eyes,oh she can never stop loving the look she receives from them,touching his cheeks." My love what troubles you",she asks. Taking a seat on the bed,he looks at her from her hair to her baby bump and back again to her eyes..such looks from him always gives her pleasurable shivers that make her blush so much.

"Let's investigate the scumbag who put you through your past pain",he said. No more afraid of her past,she looks at him with questioning gaze,"what could be your reason for asking my love",she assuredly asked him.

" I will love to teach him a very good lesson,I will love to discipline him for what he did to you.

I will love to..."placing her fingers on his lips tenderly she stops him from speaking further. " I don't want to have anything to do with him again, he doesn't deserve you laying your fingers on him",my love please forget about anything that has to do with him. I just want us to take care of our beloved family just us nothing more,please."she concluded with pleading eyes and unshed tears.

He has never spoken about her ex,never. But hearing him express his bitterness and pain it clearly shows how much he felt her pain.
Looking at her,he does the unexpected,he draws her face closer and kisses her deeply,she will always never get tired of his love,never.

After a restful and beautiful night,Martha glowed the following morning still reveling from the feels her phone rings. Picking up she beams with smiles as she detects the voice from the other end,it was Mrs. Charlotte,full of joy and gratitude they spoke at length and exchanged pleasantries.

Charlotte was most excited when she was told that the weddings were holding in the town were the Chukwumas lived. But Martha pleaded with her to keep it a secret but they both settled on the day they will visit as they will be coming over the next day.
