LOVE SO PASSION

CHAPTER 23

        

Martha couldn't contain her happiness, when Elvis had called her to seek advice on what to do in other to reconcile with Sofia yesterday.

Apart from that, she has just wrapped up her antenatal visit and the doctor said that their baby boy was doing just great.

Almost seven months into their pregnancy, Martha has been on cloud nine since  her beloved Livinus told her they will stay in Nigeria until their baby was born.

Almost, getting into her car, a familiar but annoying voice stops her in her tracks.

Malvis, had called out to her, she wondered if he was now trailing her every move. How did he get to know that she was in this particular hospital.

Trying to ignore him, he proceeds to shamelessly hold her wrist from opening the door and standing in between the door and herself.

Looking at him straight in the eyes, she could see anger, bitterness and a bit of regret.

Malvis looked at Martha from her face down to her swollen belly, she was indeed glowing. He couldn't understand why she could find her own happily ever after and still come around to ruin his, that stung him because it was more of a lie. He had only wanted revenge by marrying Sofia but it looks like he truly loves her.

"Why did you ruin my wedding?",he asked bluntly. Why did you have to come around after all the years to ruin my own happiness when you have already found yours..he concluded admist controlled anger.

All along Martha had been looking at him with full attention to see if she could find sincerity in his expressions. Of a truth she can't trust him anymore.

She once loved this man unconditionally,wholly with so much passion. But after he had put her through she couldn't bring herself to forget nor trust him again. She has truly forgiven him,but she had broken down when she found out his dubious plans to marry Sofia under a different identity.

If only he had come clean she wouldn't have interfered,she would have allowed Sofia make the decision for herself.

Responding to him, she had clearly stated that if he truly wanted happiness,he would have come clean with his identity. She further made him understand that she never had any intention to ruin his happiness but that when she came to realize that Sofia was in the dark concerning their past,she was left with no choice but to interfere,Malvis took note of that.

No wonder Sofia still spoke to him each time he called, which meant Elvis had not told her anything even after he fabricated those words that fateful wedding night.

Satisfied with that,he allows her access to her car. He just told her to face her marriage and stop prodding in other people's marriage. Not bothered by his statement,she starts her car and drives off.

About two weeks after that encounter with Martha and Sofia he proceeds with an elaborate plan.

He was going to seduce Sofia moreover they were supposed to be married to each other and he wasn't going to allow Elvis have what was his already. He had called Sofia and apologised for being so disrespectful that day at the office.

He had also told her to meet up for lunch for old times sake because she had refused. He also convinced her  that he wasn't going to do anything to hurt her or mar her family's name.

He had set up everything,he wasn't back out he will do exactly what was done to him. But this time Elvis wouldn't recover from it.

Sofia was quite skeptical about this date but she didn't see anything wrong with having a dinner with her ex even though they didn't break up. S

She couldn't tell Elvis because she didn't want him reading wrong meanings into it. So she was glad it was in the evening and at a suitable restaurant.

When she got there she saw Malvis already waiting patiently for her.

When he looked towards her direction,she felt a tinge of regret. But then God has chosen who her husband will be.

She still loved Malvis but she couldn't continue to dream about what will never be, Elvis didn't deserve a divorce either, nor an anullment. Yes they had not consummated their marriage yet.

She has resolved to wait patiently until he told her the truth. The reason why he did what he had done to Malvis.

Of a truth Sofia was beautiful tonight, she looked so stunning. But then he would try to convince her to continue seeing him. Moreover her husband keeps seeing his "ex", he has created a perfect story to suit his proposal.

When she had reached their table he stood up to  pull out her chair. When she tried to place her purse on the table his eyes caught her wedding rings,they weren't the ones he got.

Elvis had bought her a different one. How smart that was,so even when the later had been cool and acting immune he had his plans well laid out hiding his annoyance he acts up cool.

After dinner he decided to drive her home because she didn't come with her car. 

They had been talking for hours,and they didn't know when it started pouring down heavy rains by the time they got out they managed to get to his car without getting drenched but they couldn't leave the garage because everywhere was blocked due to the weather and the number of drivers who wanted to leave despite the rain. 

Malvis was more grateful for the weather, taking the opportunity he proceeds to tell Sofia the "untold truth" of her husband's past.

Malvis watched Sofia's expressions move  from surprise to regret and disbelief.

He had told her that Martha and Elvis had been in a passionate relationship, they had loved each other and sort to get married but her parents had decided to move out of the country then.

So they didn't have a proper break up, when she asked how he knew all these he was quick to say that their relationship was the talk of town then.

Broken,Sofia didn't know when she started crying. She felt betrayed, of a truth she thought she could see herself falling in love with Elvis anytime soon. She had always appreciated him as a brother, friend and boss one who would never hurt her.

Even though they have to talked about what happened that wedding day of theirs, she had enjoyed their subtle concern for each other. But then why marry her when he still had feelings for Martha.

The more she thought about it, the more she couldn't believe all that  Martha told her that night. She remembered how the family always spoke discreetly about her,how they only told her bits about her.

They finally left the parking lot of the restaurant.

She had switched her phone off when Elvis called eventually. Before they got to their house Malvis had stopped to console her, as he wiped her tears they locked eyes. Malvis took that opportunity to plant a passionate kiss on her lips.
