It's been... wait a second. How long has it been? I turned to Nyx who held up both hands. Ahh! Ten months! It's been ten months since our battle with my aunt.

It's really hard keeping track of time since time is relative in this realm. It's also very inconsistent. For example, a month here could be two days in the human realm or it could be 3 months in the human realm. It just depends on how fucked up the time zones want to be.

A lot has changed since the battle. Nyx and her friends, with much reluctance from the advisors, have been cleared of all war crimes and treasonous actions. People are still wary of them, but they're free for the most part. The compromise for their freedom was requiring them to wear magical dampening bracelets. And they do wear bracelets... it's just that the bracelets are fake.

I've been training to find out which abilities I possess and it's been utterly futile. I'm starting to doubt if I actually have anything special. It's not unheard of for a child of a gifted parent to be born with no abilities. As more time passes, I'm starting to think that I may fall into that statistic.

Zeli and Onyx are cool if you are constantly watching your back. Zeli could give less than a damn about my existence while Onyx is the absolute opposite. She thrives by making me uneasy and on edge. She's just mischief incarnate.

Cal and Ash are dope as well. Well, mostly Cal. Ash pretends I don't exist, similarly to Zeli. I now understand why they are so close. Cal enjoys my company and will often invite me to go to the pub with him. He also volunteers to be my escort whenever I want to go into town.

Ajax has looked out for me from day one, but he's been looking out for me even more after I publicized my relationship with his sister. It's really hard to wrap my head around the idea that he and Nyx are related. I just find it difficult how someone who is so dedicated and serious could be related to a demon who finds levity in everything she does.

Nevertheless, Ajax has picked up more duties so that my mother's schedule could be a bit lighter. She's used the additional free time to spend time with me and get to know me better. I love when we go into town or when she takes me to some of her favorite places. The only regret I have is that I wish my dad was here to experience everything. I know my mother still loves my dad, but their races keep them apart.

Ajax and my mother conspired about my well-being. They had already placed Yuna as my personal guard, but they decided that I need an advisor of my own. Just take a wild guess as to who my advisor is. I'll give you a second... if you guessed Alex, then you're wrong. It's Hailey.

At first, I thought things would be a bit awkward considering our history with the same person. But, she didn't care. She was extremely supportive of my relationship with Nyx. The only thing she asked is if I can help to get her back on Nyx's good side. Hailey did admit that she'd always have feelings for Nyx, since she was her first real love, but had no interest in a relationship since they're toxic together. So, I guess that makes everything cool?

Because Hailey was no longer my mother's advisor, a spot had opened up. This had led to some of the old council members vying for the open position. As you can imagine, the other royal advisors aren't thrilled with that. They believe that the three of them can do the job while the council members believe that one of them should take Hailey's place.

Ellio and Alex tried convincing my mom to tell the council members to back off, but she said it was a democracy. The council members excitedly announced a meeting in a few days to vote on if a replacement should be needed. Ellio and Alex sighed in defeat while Roman remained neutral.

"What you thinking about?" Nyx poked my cheek.

I rolled over to see her head propped up on her hand. I let out a sigh as I took in the surroundings of the beautifully illuminated plants. Nyx had sensed my stressed aura and suggested we have a little date. She took me to her favorite spot, the cave by the waterfall.

"Hailey's replacement."

"You sure think a lot about Hailey." She chuckled. "Should I be the one getting jealous this time?" I turned to see a teasing grin on her face.

"Shut up." I pushed her shoulder. "Ellio and Alex are probably gonna jump off a cliff if they get stuck with one of the council members."

Nyx glanced down at me and decided to cuddle me. She pulled me into her arms and spooned me from behind. A content sigh left her mouth as she breathed in my scent.

"Are you even listening to me?"

"Nope." She popped the 'p.'

"I'm serious though." I untangled myself from her arms. "You know how those council members are. If they get a say on the advisory board then..."

"You stress too much, my love. You keep forgetting that it'd be 3 against 1. The person would just be a prop and that person's radical ideas would immediately be shut down." She sat up.

"But they all wouldn't work well together. It needs to be a good fit and nice environment if they're gonna do a good job together."

"That's why I suggested they find another member. The council will vote for Hailey's seat to be filled, so might as well find someone to replace her. Get a start on it before the council has a chance to volunteer one of their own." Nyx fashioned a flower crown and placed it on my head.

"Why do I have a feeling you know more than you're letting on?" I eyed her suspiciously.

"Because you know me." She pecked my lips. "I mentioned Zeli, to which I received a middle finger. Ajax suggested Troian to which he received a middle finger."

"Why can't Hailey just do both?" I huffed.

"Because, my love, Hailey will have her hands tied dealing with your attitude." I gasped and proceeded to weakly hit Nyx's arm. "But don't worry, I know you've been stressing, so I suggested a controversial choice." That got me to stop hitting her. "Her name is Eris and she'd be controversial because she'd be the first fairy on the angel council."

"Fairy? I keep forgetting fairies live in this realm as well." The light realm is open for all supernatural inhabitants, not just angels. It's just that mostly angels occupy the space. "I really wanna meet a fairy?" I gazed out the cave to watch some fairies and mermaids peacefully swimming.

"You do know that Lily's a fairy right?" I snapped my head towards her. "That's why her relationship with Ajax isn't publicized. Most species don't like the intermixing because it could lead to hybrid children and stuff. Ajax's demonic background doesn't help either." She chuckled. "Also, Onyx is a fairy. That's why she's so mischievous."

"How come Lily isn't like her even though they're both fairies?" I rested my head on her shoulder.

"Onyx is technically a pixie. Those types of fairies love mischief and playing pranks. Lily is a wood/ nature elf. That's why she's extremely talented with weaving. Any more questions, beautiful? Because you have something that I want." I didn't have a chance to ask what she meant since she started attacking my lips.
