"Put on a scary one.", Mika said as he changed into some sweatpants and a sweater. Yuu nodded, scanning through whatever Netflix had to offer.
"What kind? Supernatural, slasher, torture porn..."
"Hm, something realistic."
"You just want to get scared? I can put on Highschool Musical.", the black haired boy chuckled.
"If you want to scare me, put on Riverdale." They laughed. Yuu clicked on a movie, reading its description.
"How does 47 Meters Down sound? It's a shark movie."
"Sure, sounds good." Mika sat down next to Yuu, and reached over to turn off the lights.
"A sweater? Are you cold?" The blonde shot him a puzzled look, before mouthing an 'o'.
"Yeah, I'm a little chilly."
"Mika."
"Yeah?"
"Are you lying?" He let out an awkard chuckle.
"No, why would I lie to you?"
"No reason." Mika pulled the covers to his knees, pouting.
"Now I feel like you're lying to me..." Yuu sighed, placing the laptop next to him. He turned to face his friend, resting his hand on the other's knee.
"I talked to Akane yesterday. She told me what happened with your parents, and I just wondered... What secret could be so bad you lied to me about your family?"
"I-I...", Mika choked back a sob.
"I told you I'd be patient for you to let your walls down, but I also said I'd jab at them from time to time. So I'm doing so now.", the ravenette smiled. "Come here." Yuu pulled Mika in for a hug. "Whatever's on your mind, you can tell me. I'm here for you-"
"I'm gay.", the blonde mumbled.
"... That's it? That's your big bad secret everyone is so mysterious about?"
"What do you mean?" Mika sniffed.
'Well, I thought you were gonna say you killed someone. Akane mentioned I might hate you after."
"B-But you don't, right...?"
"Ofcourse not, Mika. You're my friend and I love you, whether you prefer guys or girls. Alright?" The poor boy nodded again, and cried. Yuu wrapped his arms around him again. "I don't want to make you uncomfortable, so let me know when to stop, but... Is that the reason your parents kicked you out?"
"Yeah. Akane and I dated for a bit longer than a year, and my parents were very fond of her. As time went on, I started to realise I didn't really... feel anything for her. I noticed I wasn't attracted to any of the women around me, and felt slightly repulsed whenever Akane would try any sexual advances. A bit later, I realised I was gay." The ravenette stood up for a moment, causing a slight panic with the blonde. He brushed it off.
"I'm listening, keep going.", Yuu said as he went to the mini fridge to grab a drink for the both of them.
"I felt bad about it. I felt really gross, like I was a horrible person for liking who I like. That idea only left recently. My parents were incredibly homophobic, especially my dad. So it probably rubbed off a bit as they raised me." Yuu nodded, as he handed Mika a can of soda and sat back down next to him. "Thanks. Anyways, I broke up with Akane and told her the truth. She said she had no problem with it, and wanted me to be happy. Then, she told my parents. I know it weren't her intentions to out me to them, or to get me kicked out, but nonetheless it happened."
"Where did you go?"
"I went to Lacus' house. He and his brother, Crowley, took me in. And that's basically how the story ends."
"Are you happy, Mika?" The blonde sighed, leaning back against the wall. He opened his can of soda, letting the thoughts marinate in his head. His obvious answer would be no. But he couldn't put more worry on Yuu's shoulders, could he?
"Am I happy? That's a good question. I'd like to think so." He felt that warm hand on his leg again.
"You're lying again."
"That obvious?", he chuckled. "I don't know, I... Can we watch the dumb shark movie?"
"No. I wanna talk."
"But I doooon't.", Mika moaned. "I just want to get my mind off of things. I don't need to let all of my walls down at once, Yuu-chan."
"Yuu-chan, hmm? You talked with Akane."
"Yeah. She came up to me, profusely apologizing about explaining the situation to you."
"So you knew that I knew?"
"Sort of. She said that she purely mentioned my parents being alive, so I couldn't really make anything of it. It's annoying that I took over your nickname, though." Yuu rested his hand under Mika's chin, having him look at him.
"I like it more when you say it." A bright blush exploded on the blonde's face, once he realised in fact how close the other was.
"Y-Yuu-chan! Don't just say things like that!"
"Hah? Why not?" Was he really that oblivious? His face was inches away from the poor boy's, with his hands resting on his knees as he sat inbetween them. You'd get the idea he was trying to provoke Mika on purpose. The blonde looked him up and down, and the gears started to turn in his head. His cheeks tinted pink once he realised. "O-Oh. Sorry. I didn't think of it like that. I guess I shouldn't get this close to you as of now, huh?"
"As of now? What do you mean?" Mika felt that gross acidic feeling in his stomach again. He prayed this wouldn't turn into another fight.
"Well, I don't want to give you the wrong idea? Sorry, I don't really know how to say it, I-"
"You don't want me to fall in love with you." Yuu's shoulders dropped.
"That's... One way to put it." Mika scoffed.
"Please, you're so not my type."
"Hah??", Yuu groaned. Was he seriously offended by not being Mika's type? "What do you mean I'm not your type?"
"Are you offended?", he laughed.
"Well, no, but-! I..." The ravenette stumbled over his words.
"Oh, you are so offended."
"I'm not! What is your type, anyways?"
"Hm... I like strong men, with their feet on the ground."
"I can be strong!", Yuu yelled, clenching his fists in excitement. Mika laughed.
"Sure, but you don't have your feet on the ground." He stood up.
"I do now!"
"Whoa, easy Yuu-chan, I might want to woo you." They laughed again. It was nice. But it was scary, too, how fast the mood could shift between them. One moment it was dead serious, the other light hearted and sweet. What was next? Undeniable sexual tension? Mika felt himself grow warmer at the thought. Yeah, no way. Yuu was straight, and so not his type. It didn't take away from the stupid bubbly feeling he got from the positive boy, though.
"See?! I knew I was your type!"
"Just shut up and put on the movie, idiot.", the blonde said as he took a swig of his soda. He was thirsty, and Yuu's boldness made it in more ways than one.
"Fine, fine. Your loss.", he said as he sat back down, starting the movie on his laptop.
"My loss? Sheesh, you're gonna make me think you'd want to bang me." Yuu chuckled.
"Bro, if I wasn't straight I would propose to you in an instant." Mika's eyes widened as he choked on his drink. "Shit, are you okay?!" He rested his hand on the blonde's back as he coughed.
"Fuck, man, don't say stuff like that! You're giving me false hope here!"
"SO I AM YOUR TYPE!"
"PLAY THE DAMN MOVIE!"
