Ding dong.

The doorbell. Mitsuba groaned, pausing her movie and resting her glass of wine on the table. Making her way over, she opened the door, being met with the eyes of a frightened Yuichiro.

"Where is he?"

"... Eh? Hello to you too?", the blonde spoke, already turning around, seeing as he squirmed his way inside.

"Mika, where is he? Did something happen? Is he in his room?"

"Wowowow- slow down there. Isn't he literally out on a date with you?"

"He didn't fucking show up- Mika!", Yuu yelled up the stairs. "Mika!", he yelled again.

"Maybe something came up...? Do you have any missed calls, I doubt he'd just stand you up like that."

"... Is he with Lacus?"

"Yuu, Jesus, are you hearing yourself?" Mitsuba sighed, rubbing her face in frustration. "Sit your ass down."

"I don't understand." The voice that came out wasn't angry anymore. It was trembling, it was scared, it was devastated by all possible routes this current path could take.

"Sit down, Yuu.", the blonde repeated herself. He obliged, sitting down on the soft sofa. "Now, calmly, explain what happened."

"I was waiting for two hours... He isn't answering any texts, no phone calls... I don't know where he is or who he's with... I just want to know if he's safe..." A small sob escaped Yuichiro.

Mitsuba rubbed her hand over Yuu's back. "I'm sure he'll show up soon... Have you... checked the spot?"

"No.", Yuu shook his head. "I'm... Too scared to do that. At least by myself."

"That's understandable. None of us really want to think about what happened that day."

"I'm gonna try and call him again."

The phone rang again. Forcing his eyes shut, Mika blocked out the sounds and returned his focus to the neighbourhood he drove in.

The evenly spaced out trees, the bright white houses... It threw a feeling of familiarity, nostalgia and shame onto him. Even beyond the focusing, he felt his eyes start bubbling and his fingers trembling. He took a left, parking behind the old red car in the driveway. He couldn't help but smirk at the old wreck while he drove with a newer model.

Mika stepped out of the car, bracing himself for what was about to come. He grabbed the umbrella from the trunk, and readied the emergency number on his phone. With a final breath, he walked up to the front door, ringing the doorbell.

He prayed to God it was his mother who would open up.

The door opened, a slight gasp followed. "What are you doing here?! He'll kill you, go home!", she whisper-yelled.

Mika scoffed. "See if I care, get in the car."

"I can't-"

"I didn't drive four hours for you just decide not to come with me. I already have hell waiting for me at home, seeing I stood up my boyfriend. Now, are you coming or not?"

"What's going on over there?", a voice called from the back of the car.

"Do you have your shit packed?", Mika asked. "We need to go, now."

"I-I don't have anything packed! I can't leave without my stuff."

Mikaela sighed, rubbing his temples. "Alright." He shoved the phone in his back pocket, and moved back to his car. At the backseat, he swapped the umbrella with a baseball bat.
