"You back on the schedule for Monday through Saturday" Trin told me as I spoke to her on the phone. I let out a breath of relief while scratching the back of my neck
"Okay. Thank God. And thank you for looking out for me"
"No problem mama. You know you my bitch, Ima fight for you"
"Welll I owe you"
"No you don't. Just bring ya ass back to work cause I been missing you"
"You could've came to the house"
"With what time? Since you was gone I had to work longer hours and by the time I got off I was tired as hell"
I laughed then looked over at Layton and Zoè while they played around in the back yard
"Well I do owe you. But ima talk to you later, I'm with my nieces right now"
"Okay. Give them kisses for me"
" okay" I replied before hanging up the phone. I shoved my phone in the pockets heading the back door open and my nephew, Braxton walked outside first with his eyes focused on the Nintendo switch in his hands while he walked past me down the steps
"Pay attention to where you walking before you trip and bust ya ass" I told him and he looked at me
"Hey auntie"
"Hey.. what y'all doing here?"
Braxton shrugged "momma brought us here"
" where she at?"
"In the hose talking to grandma"
I got up and as I did maya walked outside next holding Brooklyn's hand
"Hey auntie" maya greeted me with a hug and Brooklyn hugged me as well
"Hey y'all"
"Maya, come on" Zoè waved maya over to where she was
"Go ahead and play. Autumn still here?"
Maya nodded "she talking to grandma"
I headed inside the house hearing talking in the living room. I went to the living room seeing autumn crying while she sat on the chair beside momma
"What's wrong?"
"That stupid ass baby daddy of hers" momma answered and autumn wiped her eyes before looking up
"Destin cheated.. well he has been"
"What?!"
Autumn nodded while looking down, rubbing her hands together "the girl just had his baby about two months ago and that's where he is every time he lied and said he was with his friends"
"Are you serious autumn" I sighed
"What did I do wrong? That's what I'm tryina figure out"
"Autumn.."
"And you know the only reason I found out? I gave him the money to drop off to go pay the rent because I was tired and forgot to send it. Now the land lord put an eviction notice up cause he never gave him the money. Instead he gave it to his new babymomma. I'm so done. I... I tried for the sake of my kids but I can't nomore. Especially after this"
"Sorry ass nigga" momma bluntly said before looking at autumn "stop crying! I know you hurt but at the end of the day, you ain lost a damn thing because you was taking care of him. That boy don't have shit to his name or a dime in his pocket. You are perfectly fine autumn. You sitting there struggling for a man that obviously showed you that he don't give a damn about you but now you see. To hell with him and that eviction notice.
