25. Break before it melts

The daylight caressed Taehyung's face. The soft wind brushed his hair. He moved closer to the alpha's chest. The mixture of their scents warmed his heart. He felt the alpha tightening the hold. Indeed it's a good morning.

Heart pounding with the new but never-get-tired feeling of staying close to his mate, Taehyung opened his eyes. The alpha was sleeping soundly. His pink lips formed into an adorable pout, hair disheveled, beautiful eyelashes. Taehyung smiled unknowingly. Oh how fast this sleeping face of his alpha became his most beautiful scenery.

Taehyung traced the alpha's face and leaned forward to place his usual kiss on the long eyelashes. He released the grip from his mate's tight hold and got up from the bed.

After his daily routines, he helped Jin for breakfast. Oh, his heat?
The male still feels the cravings. But not that strong. He was wearing Jungkook's shirt and the scent helping him. More importantly, the omega remembers what JK said last night. They have things to talk about first.

Taehyung was feeling weak but he can manage that. There's something he wanted to do fast and as soon as possible.
The male walked through the familiar hallway. He stopped at a big wooden door and stared for a bit. He took a deep breath and softly knocked on the door. As soon as he heard a small come in, he opened and entered inside.

Jungkook was busy with his daily works. The files were all over his desk and he was going insane. Now that they signed new contracts, the head alpha's work doubled. The male was so concentrated on the files when he heard a knocking on his office door.

The door opened and revealed the person Jungkook never thought to meet there.
Taehyung.

The young alpha was puzzled and stared at his mate in confusion. Did Taehyung messed up with rooms? Packhouse is quite big, you know. But his confusion died down when his mate smiled looking at him.

Now he feels dizzy.
What's happening? Taehyung just smiled at him?

Don't get him wrong. He loves to see his mate smiling. Taehyung smiles and laughs a lot but not for him, not with him. Jungkook felt sad about the fact that he can't be the reason behind his mate's smile. But now that Taehyung smiled, Jungkook felt he was transformed into a bunny and he wanted to run around the moon and stars. He felt euphoric.

"Hi..."
Taehyung broke the silence.

Brave.

"Ah...H-hello..."
The alpha male stuttered.

"Umm... Hope that I'm not disturbing you..."
Taehyung said, standing few feet apart from the table.

"No... It's okay... W-why are you here?
Oh... Wait, please have a seat."

Jungkook said. He doesn't know what he's doing anymore. His soul already left him when he witnessed Taehyung's smile. Oh, yeah, too whipped.

The silver-haired male smiled again and sat on the chair in front of him. It's a bit awkward for both of them. They're facing each other like this for the first time- without involving their wolves and alpha-omega sides, without fighting, without killing each other with burning looks. This is the first time for them to talk or even look at each other properly, even though both know each other's small details by heart.

"I... Wanted to talk to you... About something..."
Taehyung said, head straight, looking into the alpha's black orbs. Jungkook nodded at the male.

"Yeah... Tell me..."

"Uh... Thank you...
Thank you for yesterday. I don't know what happened to me, I was behaving like... I mean my omega side... Anyways... Thank you..."

To say Jungkook was startled would be an understatement. He didn't expect that. Taehyung just said thank you for yesterday. Wow...

"I know JK took over. But still... You deserve one for everything. And V too a little bit stubborn and needy. He... He craves attention. That's why whenever you're around or JK, he just starts behaving like a..."

"Oh, sorry... I was just carried away. Sorry for blabbering like that."

Taehyung said, slightly embarrassed with himself. He bit his lower lip and looked down at his lap.

"Cute"

The head alpha blurted out. He smiled at his mate who was looking like a red tomato now.

"It's fine. No need to thank me. You... You're my mate. I... I'm the one who is supposed to help you when-whenever you're going through hard times."

Jungkook said making Taehyung look at him with wide eyes. Did Jungkook really say that? Did Jungkook call him his mate? Taehyung was feeling like he was in stars. Sparkling from the deep.

"How are you feeling now?"
The alpha asked.

"I'm fine. Just..." Taehyung's voice trailed off. Now you tell me, how's he supposed to say that he wants to wrap his arms around the neck of the male in front of him, straddle him, trace his jawline, stare at him like there's no tomorrow, and much more...? Yeah. That's what he was feeling.

Taehyung bit his lip harshly from the thoughts in his head. He's going to embarrass himself more. Oh, only if he knew...

Jungkook on the other hand balled his fist tightly as the omega was biting hard on his pink lips. He was controlling himself from a lot of things, forsake of them, for sake of their future.

"Umm... I will leave now... You can continue with your work..."
Taehyung said, after breaking the awkward silence between the mates.
Jungkook nodded as he found the omega standing up.

Taehyung was about to leave the room, and Jungkook stopped him.

"Taehyung"

The said male stopped as he met with a ghost. He just heard his name, in a sweet deep voice, almost like a whisper, and from Jungkook. He blushed at the way the name rolls out from the alpha's mouth. He turned to look at the male.

"Ah... If you're free... Would you like to go out later? I kinda have something to talk about too... Just like a walk or something?"
The alpha was scratching his neck while saying that. He was afraid if Taehyung will reject it. His heart was beating fast as the omega taking time to answer.

"Hmm... Yes...we can go..."
Taehyung said.

The head alpha smiled at his mate. Soon, Taehyung left the room and Jungkook went back to work.
