“Alec!” Clary exclaimed as he burst through the doors of the institute, still trying to clear his mind of the memories of the past hour.

She would have hugged him if she didn’t know that he would probably throw her off if she did.

“So?”

Alec decided to make her wait, just so he can see the suspense on her face for at least a few more seconds. He held a straight face trying  not to give anything away.

“Tomorrow night. He’s expecting you-”.

Clary hadn’t even let him finish his sentence before she interrupted him with a loud exhale. To her, it felt as if there was another weight being taken off her shoulder. She was one step closer to getting her memories back, and finding her mom.

“I really do appreciate this Alec”

“Yeah yeah”

“You’re back '' Jace called from across the room.

He hadn’t been very worried. His parabatai senses didn't alert him of anything so he assumed Alec wasn’t in harm's way.

“How’d it go”

“Fine. It was fine. Just typical down worlder, illegal activities. He didn’t need much help, considering his magic and all”, Alec paused for a moment to gage whether or not Jace believed his lies.

“I just told Clary that you can both meet him at his apartment tomorrow night, he’ll be waiting for you”

“Ok”,  Jace eyed Alec suspiciously.

“And I’ll be going with you”

“I thought you didn’t want to be involved after yesterday”

Alec quickly thought of a response that could disparage Jace's continuous questions.

“Yeah but I mean, I figured I got you halfway there. It’s not worth backing out now, right?”

“Right” Jace agreed, but was confused at the same time.

He felt like there was something Alec wasn’t telling him. He would never force him to spit it out, but the whole situation just felt off.

"Well I’m gonna go get some rest”, Alec decided and walked past jace, giving him a pat on the shoulder as he did so.

Jace grabbed his arm to stop him from leaving just yet.

“Thank you for tonight by the way, you didn’t have to”

Alec gave Jace a comforting smile, then looked over at Clary. Jace’s eyes took the same path, staring at Clary as she was discussing the plan for tomorrow with Izzy. Jace couldn’t help but smile. He was infatuated with everything about her. Her strength, her determination, her will power, and most noticeably, her beauty. Alec watched Jace watching Clary. He could feel even within himself the love Jace had for her. Their eyes met once again when Jace finally ripped his away from Clary. Alec shook his head at the obviously lovestruck Jace.

“Yeah. Yeah I did”

He pulled away  and waved a small goodnight to Izzy. She would probably ask him a million questions about what happened after they left. That was just her nature. Izzy took her role as a sister very seriously, in that she wanted to be the person he could talk to when he couldn’t go to anyone else, even Jace. Alec knew that, which is why he wasn’t surprised when she confronted him soon after Clary arrived about his feelings towards Jace. He never really understood them though, other than the fact that they probably weren't feelings a friend would have towards another friend. It was more than that. Maybe he and Jace being parabatai was what drew him, maybe he was in love with Jace.
