Alec paced back and forth at the edge of his bed. Attempting to walk out all his nerves instead of reasonably addressing them. Magnus didn’t exactly have the time to tell him what they were doing or where they were going, all he knew was that this was a date. An official label that made Alec afraid to mess things up.

He brought his hands to his face and let out a deep sigh, exhaling all his anxiety and inhaling a newfound confidence. It was going to be fine, he just had to stand there and be himself. Right? Yes, that was what he was going to do. He took another deep breath before opening the door to his quarter, flinching a little when he saw Izzy standing in front of him preparing to knock.

“Uh, hi” Alec slurred, confused by Izzy’s presence

“Hi”, she answered while sliding past Alec to invite herself into the room.

She plopped herself onto Alec's bed and sighed while doing so.

“You need something?” Alec said closing the door again and slowly walking towards Izzy, who simply patted the empty space next to her on the bed. Motioning for him to sit down. Alec obeyed, rolling his eyes as he did.

“Yes” he groaned while sitting down.

“Where are you going?” Izzy asked calmly.

“Out” Alec returned.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means-”

Izzy interrupted Alec before he could get another word in,

“It means you're going somewhere with Magnus aren’t you. That's why you came back the other day acting all weird wasn’t it. You didn’t look at Jace with those stupid longing eyes anymore, you looked at him like you were letting go”

Alec’s mouth gaped open. He needed to say something, he knew that, he just needed a minute to process Izzy’s words.

“And  when we were at his apartment yesterday, you kept trying to look at him. We left and you wanted to say something. You wanted to say something but you didn’t. You walked out like an idiot”

“Hey ... I'm not an idiot”

“Shhh, you don’t get to speak right now. We all left and when I turned around, guess who wasn’t there? Huh. You. Because you went back to talk to Magnus and made plans with him and that's where you're going now isn’t it”

Alec stared into her eyes with a blank facial expression and shrugged.

“I knew it!”, Izzy exclaimed, hugging her brother.

Alec smiled against her shoulder. Seeing her excited for him made him happy he just didn’t show it. Izzy pulled back from the hug and gasped, her hands still on his shoulders.

“I bet you didn’t even go hunting for rogue down worlder’s”

Alec gave her a look that implied that she was right.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Izzy complained, pushing Alec's shoulders with one of the hands that rested on it.

“I don’t know”

He didn’t want to tell her that he was scared of the situation. Izzy didn’t like his response to her question but she let it go.

“Well you can’t be late”, she conceded, getting up from the bed and pulling her with him.

Izzy turned his face to look at her, then got on her tiptoes, licking her thumb and brushing his thick brows down with it.

“Don’t overthink anything,” She warned, giving  him one last smile before grabbing his arm and leading him out of the room.
