3 - An Unexpected Encounter

"... /N.. Y/N... Y/N!"
You slowly started to regain consciousness. Were you saved? Back in Konoha? Did your teammates make it as well? This voice... You didn't recognize it. You slowly opened your eyes. To your surprise you weren't at the hospital or even your home, you had never seen this ceiling before. It looked old and wooden, like it belonged to a building that had existed for longer than you could imagine, the mossy smell confirmed it.

You looked around and saw a man who's face you had never seen before, sitting in the middle of the really small shed you were in, the rest of it, didn't look any better than the ceiling.

You were lying in a small bed, positioned next to the wall opposite of the door. Yes the shed looked old but it had everything needed to live. It was only one big room but you could see a small kitchen, bed of course even a tub. You decided to focus your attention onto the man that was here with you. Was he a friend or enemy?

You blinked a few times in confusion. "You're awake! How are you feeling?" The strange man spoke. "Uhhh.." your head started hurting as you tried to sit up, you hissed from the pain. "Where.. Where am I... What happened...?" The man gave you a sympathetic smile and began to speak: "Don't worry, you're save. I have a lot to tell you, let me introduce myself. My name is Kazuki... Kazuki L/N." He looked at you, expecting a reaction.

What.. you were confused, was it just a coincidence that you shared the same last name. You looked at him again, first you didn't really pay attention but he, indeed, had the same eye, hair and skin color as you. Was it really possible? "Wait you're not saying we're related, are you? But my clan is-" He started to explain: "I know, it's sad, but it's true that there are only very few people of our clan alive to this day, that's one thing I wanted to talk to you about. It's important, you need to listen to me."

He stood up from his chair, turning his back to you but continued to speak: "This will be a lot to take, I bet you're still feeling bad. Here let me make you a cup of tea with some special herbs, that should help you feel better in no time." "Uh, yeah sure, thank you?" You were still extremely confused but you trusted the guy. You had never met anyone who you could relate with, someone who felt like family.

You were sipping the nice smelling tea Kazuki had made for you. He had sat down on the chair he was sitting on when you woke up and had remained there since. He seemed to be deep in thought.

"Excuse me sir..." You spoke up. He looked at you and started talking: "Are you feeling better Y/N-san? The whole situation is complicated so I understand if you don't believe me at first, but... it really is all true. In fact I've been watching you for a few weeks, because I really wanted to talk to you but couldn't find the right moment. But now, this is perfect, I get to talk to you here, we won't get interrupted and you can make your judgment on the situation!!" He seemed awfully excited given you were sitting here, clearly hurt from the "fight". You decided to ignore his weird behavior. "So, what is this about now?" You asked.

"I see you're ready for the truth huh. Okay let me start. Our clan, our history, it's a little different from what you've been taught. Our great ancestors, were living in Konoha the time the first Hokage, Hashirama used to rule over the village. They were respected citizens, a clan that was looked up to, even up until Sarutobi Hiruzen started his term." This information already confused you, they never told you much about the clan, but you knew that the war in which most died and the rest vanished. Had to have been sometime during the term of the second hokage.

"I see you look confused, you can't trust what the shinobi of konoha tell you, there is more to it." You collected your thoughts. "Please continue." You demanded after a few seconds.

"During Sarutobi's term there was a conspiracy about the L/N clan. It started out as a small rumor but the theory gained more and more believers. The higher ups didn't do anything and there was even one who supported the conspiracy wholeheartedly. It said that the L/N clan were advocates of the devil, they couldn't remain "good", sooner or later every single on of them would turn against Konoha. They were probably already planning Konoha's downfall, It was really similar to the hate many had against the uchihas. Matter of fact, our clan and the uchiha clan weren't the only clans that met their demise due to similar beliefs. Some poeple even believed they were on Madara's side way back then. And what was the reason for these rumors? Easy enough, the fact they could control blood. People could not see how this would be a power of the good. It's stupid reasoning but somehow many believed it and people always search for someone to hate on, someone to blame for everything."

You were speachless, all you could think about now was: Why all this?

"It went as far as that the higher up, who stood on top of the movement against our clan, to organize a wichhunt, which was carried out on that one fateful night. Apparently the hokage knew about it but never stepped in. Almost the whole clan was eradicated with only a few members being able to flee, me included. It was horrible, I tell you. Konoha is still, to this day, trying to cover up what happened, some people that were present were even brainwashed to keep the secret. That's pretty much what happened, I know it's hard to believe."

You were extremely shocked, with a shaky voice you said:
"But... I'm sorry... This is a lot. But how do I know if I can really believe you? Konoha has always been a great home to me, I honestly can't believe they would do something so... cruel." Kazuki looked at you stone faced. "All I can do is swear I'm telling the truth. You should know what they are capable of, just look at the Uchiha clan. Maybe, if you want more proof you can try asking Tsunade about it, you will realize she will try to brush it off and won't be able to tell you anything."
