Tempt Fate | Orochimaru x Reader

2 - The beginning

You were at the meeting spot, 30 minutes earlier than you were gonna be going out with your group. The "don't be late" from Tsunade was stuck in your head, so you woke up extra early and because you were so nervous you already headed to the gate way early.

"Yo Y/N!" it was Naruto calling out to you, coming your way. "Hey Naruto, are you part of the mission as well? Tsunade didn't mention anything like that" "Mission? Ohh, you mean the one Tsunade wanted to talk to you about yesterday? No, I was just on my way to meet with Shikamaru. What's your mission about anyway, I don't understand why Tsunade was so secretive about it, must be important, maybe it would be best if I came with you, I'm the best choice for special missions, believe it!" He grinned and gave you a thumbs up. You remebered Tsunade wanting to keep it a secret, even from Naruto so you decided to lie. "Just some weak ninja group causing trouble in the region recently, it shouldn't take long to take care of them." You smiled, overplaying how nervous you were that he would see through this lie and ask more questions.
Naruto seemed surprised. "I thought it would be something more important, how boring. Good luck then and see you later." He waved to you, turned and ran away. You sighed in relief, you didn't wanna find out how Tsunade would react if she found out it was your fault that Naruto found out about everything. If he finds out about something like that there is no way that he won't try as hard as he can to come with you.

You were running through the forest, jumping from tree to tree. Your team consisted of two people from the Hyuga clan, another older shinobi you didn't know and yourself, of course. You were already on your way toward the location the unknown attacker came from for 2 hours and your legs started to hurt. From what Tsunade told you, it sounded like it would be closer to the village. "Excuse me," You asked the old shinobi who was the leader of your small team. "How far is the spot from here?" He turned to you. "Hmm it should take about 45 more minutes. Are you tired already? Young people these days don't get proper training anymore..."

Just as you were going to ask if you could take a short break, one of the Hyugas shouted: "Enemy spotted! Their chakra seems abnormal, prepare to fight!" You grabbed the Kanata from your back, now sensing lots of blood a few meters away and coming closer, the unknown person was clearly approaching you. "The enemy seems to be hurt." You informed your team. They nodded, focusing on the direction the enemy was coming from.

Suddenly, a person burst through the leafs, to your surprise it was a little boy, clearly hurt, blood dripping down his forehead. "Wait!!" you called out, "it's just a kid!" The old man reacted immediately, charging towards the kid. "Don't be fooled, he's dangerous." The Hyugas nodded in agreement. "Attack!!!" You stayed at a safe distance and threw some kunais while the others attacked the kid, he easily dodged all their attacks, he looked so timid but had some serious fighting skills, pulling a knife out of his pocket, doing a few back flips and throwing it from a distance, hitting one of the Hyuga's head. The Hyuga stumbled and fell backwards. "Can anyone heal?" You called. The old man turned to you, you think he mentioned that he was a medicine ninja, now seeing there was a man on the ground. "We have to keep our guard up, no time for healing." He screamed at you. What?? Guess you had to give it your all now, you ran for the kid, aiming for his chest but before you could reach him you felt a blinding pain on your head, suddenly everything started turning black, you could only hear the muffled screams of you panicking teammates.

It was warm... You were getting embraced by something... Someone. "Y/N... We love you so much." Mom? Dad? The voices were so quiet you could barely understand something. "You will have to make an important decision. We trust you. You're smart you will know who to believe, our future is on your shoulders..." It was all black you couldn't see anything. What was happening to you? Were you dying right now? Was this what afterlife is like? Important desicion? You don't know what was happening at all.

There... A blinding light, as it started to light up your surroundings you started to lose your consciousness once again. If you even were conscious in the first place.
