MIKAEL'S POV
I woke up to being shaken by a very scared looking Niklaus. I rubbed my eyes to get rid of the sleep and sat up on the bed. I glanced at Esther sleeping next to me over my shoulder and then turned my head to look at Niklaus.
"Another nightmare?" I whispered quietly. Niklaus nodded and wiped his teary eyes. I sighed and got up from the bed. I scooped him up and hugged him tightly. With him in my arms I exited the room.
I walked to the living room and sat down with him on my lap. I stroked his head and let him cry. Niklaus was getting better and better everyday with showing affection and reciving it, as well as showing his true emotions.
"What was it this time?" I asked quietly in a soft voice and let him calm down. Niklaus stayed quiet for a while.
"It was nothing." He said stubbornly and wiped his eyes again.
I chuckled softly. "Well it had to be something as you woke me up. But do not press it, I am not going to force you to tell me." I reassured him.
Niklaus sighed and then huffed. "It was the same as the last three times. Mother going crazy and stuff."
I sighed and stayed quiet. I knew that sometimes witches had visions, and even Niklaus had the witch gene, maybe not as strong as Kol had it, but still. I didn't know how to work around them.
We stayed in that position for a while before Niklaus fell asleep again. I yawned and stood up with Niklaus on my arms.
It was tough times. Even though we have been having amazing moments together, there has been a lot of crying and growing emotinally.
I carried Niklaus back to his room and tucked him in. I left the room, closed the door and leaned against the wall.
These children never got the chance to have a happy childhood and it made me so sad and mad at the same time. But I was happy to work for them to have a better childhood.
I took a moment to clear my head and then went outside to do a work-out or something. I needed to clear my head even more and to have a little break.
As I did some basic routine, my head swarmed with thoughts about the future once again.
It was ridicilous how much I thought about the future, but being completely honest with you, I was scared. Scared as heck, but I needed to stay strong. For the children and for myself.
After the very loose workout I just laid near the shore and listened the sounds coming from the nature.
It was so peaceful. The birds were singing and a gentle breeze of wind wandered over my skin.
I heard soft footsteps come closer to me, but I didn't react to it. I just wanted to have this moment of peace.
The person who decided to join me didn't say anything, just sat down next to me and enjoyed the peace with me.
After a while I opened one eye and looked at right of me. Ayana Bennett.
"Hello Ayana." I said calmly and closed my eyes again.
I am not really sure how but I felt the pure power coming from the Bennett witch. It was like nature, pure, calming and powerful.
"Hello Mikael. Or should I say Erika?" Ayana commented with a small smile while she looked at the lake.
I hummed. "Well, it was only a matter of time when you would find out. I would appriciate it if you would continue to call me Mikael. Does Esther know?"
