Chapter 10

"Shit, Hange..." I looked over at her and Moblit as we set up the target restraining weapons in Stohess. "I don't know if we have enough."

I wiped the sweat from my brow and continued placing the weapons along the roofs of the buildings in Stohess District. I used my hand to shield my eyes from the sun and looked down the road we were currently lining with weapons. Soon, if Eren, Armin and Mikasa failed to trick Annie and she turned into a titan, she would be storming down this road to, once again, fall into our trap.

We were planning on using barbed netting in addition to the target restraining weapons, as we didn't have as many units as what would be necessary to stop the titan. However, Nifa, Keiji, and Abel were all on the other side of the street, placing the barbed netting in a position parallel to the weapons. I silently prayed it would be enough.

"We'll be fine, Birdie. Besides, this is only a backup plan," she placed her hand on my shoulder. "Just concentrate on the task at hand."

"Yes, Squad Leader," I said as I went to move a couple of barrels with Moblit.

After we finished setting up the trap, I sat down on one of the roofs and laid down on my back.

The plan was in motion now; all that was left for us to do was wait.

A couple of days earlier:

"Hange," I greeted my Squad Leader as I reached my workroom after delivering the message to Captain Levi. "I hope you weren't waiting long."

"Not really. And anyway, it's a beautiful day; I didn't mind waiting for a bit," she smiled. "How were Captain Levi and Eren?"

"Good, all things considered. Although, Captain Levi won't be fighting titans anytime soon," I sighed before asking, "I'm assuming you're here to fill me in on Commander Erwin's plan?"

"His injuries are that bad? Damnit..." she shook her head. "Let's go inside, and we'll discuss the plan."

I agreed and unlocked the door to my workroom. We entered, and Hange began to explain.

"Eren and Erwin are required to go to Stohess the day after tomorrow. This is supposedly when the Military Police will take Eren into custody," Hange sighed. "This is the only chance we have to capture Annie Leonhart, or the Military Police will have an excuse to take Eren from the Survey Corps."

I shook my head out of frustration, "But Hange, Stohess is a populated area. What about all of the civilians?"

"I know, but we don't have any other choice," she smiled sadly. "Eren is going to be used as a decoy to draw Annie Leonhart in; if he pulls it off, Eren will prove his usefulness, and he can remain with the Survey Corps."

"How will he do that?" I asked.

"Eren, and two other recruits, Armin and Mikasa, are going to lure Annie to an underground location which will hopefully deter her from transforming into the Female Titan. We will have someone disguised as Eren to prevent the Military Police from being suspicious as they travel to the capital." Hange began to tinker with some machinery and various weaponry parts on my work desk as she spoke, "If they fail to capture her in her human form and she turns into the Female Titan, Eren will transform and take her down. If somehow both of these plans fail, we'll lure her into a street lined with your weapons, where we can hopefully take her down ourselves."

I shook my head, "I doubt we'll have enough."

"We have to try," Hange said.
