Chapter 15

My breath quickened as a battle began before me. I couldn't even move as the dust settled to reveal Eren's titan and Reiner's Armoured Titan on the ground far below the top of the wall. However, the wide-eyed expression I held did not last long as Hange's voice rang in my ear to move.

I glanced in her direction just in time to understand the reason behind her instructions. The Colossal Titan was moving, slowly but disastrously. He brought his hand down in a sweeping motion to wipe the soldiers off the top of the wall to the ground far below.  A fate that would only mean death.

I reacted in time to follow my comrades to the side of the wall where we remained perched and out of the way of the Collosals' wide reach. I gasped for breath in order to recover from the shock of the entirety of the situation. My eyes instinctively squeezed shut in an attempt to block out the horror that was before me. 

I opened them in time to see the Colossal Titan's hand going to its mouth and its contents falling in. Both Ymir and a couple of other soldiers who had been grasped in its giant hands were swallowed whole. 

"Soldiers!" Hange gritted her teeth before screaming out her order, "Eliminate the Colossal Titan!"

I wavered slightly as the other soldiers immediately went to follow her order. I grimaced before following them, knowing all too well my skills wouldn't cut it. 

I could barely kill a regular titan.

How the hell are we going to kill the Colossal. 

I followed my squad's lead, zig-zagging around the Collosal's reach. Thankfully, his movements were slow and clumsy. Although this didn't make them less dangerous, it did make him more predictable. 

Predictability is what we want. Predictable means we can beat him.

All the troops soon reached the nape of the Colossal Titan due to his reduced speed.

We are almost to the nape...perhaps we can do this after all. 

"All troops cut through!" I could faintly hear my Squad Leader yell through the air. I braced myself and readied my blades flying through the air directly behind Keiji and Abel.

An explosive sound reached my ears that felt like an eternity but perhaps was only a matter of seconds. What came next could only be explained as the opposite of predictable. 

"Fuck!" I heard someone scream ahead of me, perhaps it was Abel, but I couldn't be sure as my entire vision blurred as some sort of cloud surrounded all the troops. 

"Hot!" I heard someone else yell from beside me, almost as a warning. 

I soon discovered what he meant as my entire body was engulfed in steam.

"All units! Pull back!" I could hear my Hange yell off in the distance.

I didn't need to be told twice as I left the steaming vapour before it had a chance to burn me.

I grappled with my ODM gear and stumbled my way out of the cloud, falling hard against the top of the wall. I landed a ways away from the steaming Colossal Titan and right beside a man whose bright red hand swelled in anger. He was burnt badly.

The burn that I had on my hand as a result of Eren's transformation just over a month ago was a minor injury compared to this. His hand was bubbling in anger, causing me to believe he must have been close to the Colossal Titan when he began to produce heat. His skin appeared to be melting in some places, causing me to look away as bile rose in my throat; it was as if his skin was sliding right off of his body.
