A new day began for Mathias in the Dimitrescu castle. And for the very first time since his arrival, he had managed to spend a restful night, despite the discomfort of his patched mattress and the freshness of his cell. It was around 10 am now, and after being given something to eat to feed his stomach, Mathias had been allowed to leave his cell so that he could be free during the day.
He thought back to the evening yesterday, in the small ballroom in the west wing of the castle. He still found it hard to believe that he had dance with the three Dimitrescu daughters, who then showed a new side of their personality: those of three young women caring a lot for their mother and returning the love she has for them. But also, he had discovered three dynamic women with musical tastes that he would never have suspected. Even though they kept that very mocking and loving side to play with humans, at least they no longer tried to slash him with their sickles, which was already a good point towards mutual trust.
Arriving in the large living room, gradually beginning to know the location of certain specific rooms of the castle, Mathias saw the big sister, Bela Dimitrescu, sitting comfortably on the sofa near the fireplace where were burning some small logs bringing a pleasant warmth in the room. The woman was focused on a book she was holding in her hands. Seeing Mathias arriving, she smiled gently at him as if to say hello, but above all, gestured to him not to make any noise. Indeed, Cassandra and Daniela, seated on the armchairs in front of the sofa, they too were very concentrated on books and apparently had to write on sheets of paper placed on their knees.
Mathias then understood that the three sisters seemed to be in the middle of a lesson, which Lady Dimitrescu would surely impose on them. The sight reminded Mathias of when in his childghood, his mother forced him to do his homework before he could go to play, and it made him smile softly. He found the sight of the three female vampires learning their lesson as well-educated girls quite funny, but he didn't laugh so as not to disturb them.
Daniela then noticed Mathias, and not being able to restrain her childish and mocking side, smiled at him and began to gently mock him by mimicking dance gestures from last night.
_ "Daniela ..." Bela whispered to her little sister then, making her understand to concentrate on her lesson, which she did.
Feeling a little too much and wanting to allow them to do their lesson without disturbing them, Mathias left the living room, crossed the dining room where there were several undead dressed as servants and busy cleaning the floor and dusting off the dust. the furniture. The creatures glanced at the young mortal briefly, making barely audible neutral growls, and immediately resumed their work. Mathias felt relieved each time that they had been instructed not to attack him, so he could walk around the castle without risking his throat cut by a zombie jaw.
Wanting to enjoy the fresh and pleasant air outside again and seeing that the weather seemed rather calm, Mathias went out into the central courtyard and came back to sit on the small stone bench under the gazebo. But this time he didn't write in his little notebook and just sat there, osberving and listening around him.
Other living dead were present, these equipped with old shovels and whose task was to clear a little snow that had accumulated a little too much in some places. Far in the air, the screams and roars of the gargoyle-humanoid creatures were heard, and they could be seen flying between the towers, as usual.
But as he watched all this in silence, Mathias suddenly saw a shadow appear beside him and cover him. Looking up, he then saw Lady Dimitrescu standing near him and looking at him with neutrality. Mathias, like a reflex, rose from the bench in a hurry, and a little awkwardly, greeted her with a reverence.
_ "Lady Dimitrescu ..." he said shyly.
_ "I would like to show you something ... follow me." she said simply, and turning around, walked away towards the east wing of the castle. Intrigued by this order but deciding to obey anyway, Mathias followed her, not knowing what she wanted, but he hoped it wasn't for a problem he had caused.
