Lady Veera is about to be Princess Veera. She is quite literally on course to become the future Queen of Asgard. Veera is set to marry Prince Thor in order to solidify his place as the future King of Asgard and provide heirs. The ride to Odin's castle is long but is worth the journey that awaits her.

The throne room was extravagant and over the top. King Odin was sitting on his throne at the top of the staircase with Frigga standing next to him. Their son, Loki, was standing a stair down from them and Thor was standing at the bottom of the staircase waiting to get his first glance at his future bride.

The golden throne room was so silent you could hear a pin drop. Veera walked slowly, quietly, and poised behind her father. She had the highest honor in being selected to marry the prince and she was not about to embarrass her father in front of the entire royal family. Veera's father was a stern and scornful man that held very high expectations for his only child. In contrast to her wicked father, Veera's mother had been radiant and kind. She died when Veera was very young and since then her father has dictated every single part of Veera's life. She had very strict guidelines and standards to meet and she often didn't meet them even if everyone around her thought she did.

Veera's father grabbed her hand and introduced her to the royal family, "Mighty All Father, May I present to you my daughter, Lady Veera. I give her hand in marriage to your first born son, Prince Thor."

Prince Thor walked up to Veera and took her hand from her father and led her to the base of the stairs where she curtsied and took her place next to Thor but not making physical contact with him. Veera looked at each member of the royal family and locked eyes with Queen Frigga who smiled and tilted her head in a nod.

Odin seemed to take that as a sign to continue, "I'm pleased with this pairing. The wedding will be in a month to allow Thor and Lady Veera to get acquainted."

Veera's father breathed a sigh of relief that his daughter hadn't messed anything up.

The Queen spoke, "Come Lady Veera I'll show you to your room. Your belongings should already be there. You should get settled in before dinner."

Frigga walked gracefully down the steps and hooked her arm with Veera's, "Thor shall give you a tour of the castle after lunch."

As the two women walked out of the throne room, Veera looked back over her shoulder and locked eyes with Prince Loki who was staring back at her with a small, confident smile like he knew something was going to happen.

After lunch was when Thor was supposed to give her the tour of the palace but he hadn't made his way into the dining hall. King Odin asks Loki where his brother was and he replied, "He's run off somewhere with the Warriors Three and the Lady Sif. You know how those trips go, who knows when he'll be back".

"That boy! Just got engaged this morning and can't even stay long enough to properly introduce himself. I apologize for my son's insolence Lady Veera.", Queen Frigga stated apologetically.

"It is quite alright your highness. The only thing I had on my agenda for today was the tour with him. Do you think you can direct me to the library after lunch is over? Reading is my favorite pastime", Veera asked politely.

"Loki can take you, he spends the majority of his day cooped up in there reading about something or other. Isn't that right son?", Frigga said.

"Of course mother I'd be happy to assist Lady Veera in anything she needs in my brother's absence.", Prince Loki stared into Veera's eyes from over his goblet of wine.

Veera felt more welcomed by Thor's brother than the man himself. She understands that marriage might not be what he wants but he still has a duty to uphold by at least getting to know each other so the marriage may be tolerable. Even if they do not love each other they could still be friends. Loki turned away and continued his meal. Veera liked Loki, they could be great friends.

The group of four ate in silence for the rest of lunch. Veera didn't feel like holding a conversation anyways she was too busy lost in her own thoughts. Veera was an avid magic user. Of course no one knew that because the use of magic was improper behavior for a Lady, or at least that's what her father says. She wondered if she would be allowed to use it in the castle even if it was only in private.

She felt a pressing sensation in her brain and instinctively turned and looked at Prince Loki, he was staring at her and she could tell he was digging around in her mind. She looked him dead in the eyes and sent a message through, 'It's not polite to read people's thoughts'

'I was just curious about what you were thinking so hard about. I never anticipated you a mage.'

'It is improper for a lady to use magic. My father never even entertained the idea.', Veera turned her head away and continued eating her lunch.

'That's absurd, my mother is a sorceress.', Loki took a sip of his wine.

'Different families have different rules. Father was very strict there was no time for foolery', Veera finished the last of her greens.

Loki looked back at Veera with a barely masked grin, 'Well your father has no authority over you here. Your marriage to my brother will solidify your position above him and you can practice sorcery as you please. I will help you, it would be nice to have someone to practice with other then mother.'

'Your father and brother don't practice sorcery?', Veera thought surprised.

'Choosing sorcery over battle isn't a very princely way of going about', Loki looked away and took another sip of wine, 'We shall continue this conversation in the library'.

Veera thought for a minute, 'Okay but nobody else is to know just yet.'

Loki smirked openly, 'You have my word'.

I've made a new book venture :)

It's not gonna be a long book just a short little book that I've had in my drafts for a while. I was going to post it in my short stories book but I realized that it would be too long to be a short story so I made it a book instead.

I hope you enjoy <3
