Chapter 4

Chapter Four:
Calm before the Storm

Sapphire

It's a gloomy day, each raindrop fell on the ground like bullets. Here I was, standing in front of a ginormous building with my blue umbrella. Sobrang lakas ng ulan, I'm shivering.

Vega Enterprise, the huge sign read.

Exactly 48 hours ago, after staying at a hotel to find peace amidst the chaos and trying to process everything that just happened. It's also where I made a re-route for my plans. The show must definitely go on.

I dried my shoes by the huge entrance mat and walked towards the lobby's front desk.

"Welcome, how may I help you ma'am?" The receptionist asked.

"I'm here to talk to Beau Vega." I confidently said without batting an eyelash.

"Did you..by any chance, set an appointment with Mr. Vega?" The receptionist skeptically inquired.

"I'm pregnant with his child." I coolly said as a response, hoping that it was enough to alarm the receptionist in front of me.

"S-Sorry ma'am, come again?" Nali-litong tanong nito.

"Ang sabi ko buntis ako, at ang boss niyo dito ang ama. I need to see him, pronto. Kailangan makita ko ang ama nitong dina-dala ko." May diin sa pag-sabi ko. I am starting to get really impatient.

I was already failing this mission, if I don't see him now then when will I ever see him again? I saw him in that club out of luck.

"Sorry ma'am but I really don't know if you're telling the truth or not, baka po kasi ako yung ma-sisante. I'll try and see what I can do—" Natatarantang sabi nito.

Nag-tagis bagang ako. "No, you're going to call your boss and let me in. It's that simple."

"Ma'am sorry hindi po talaga kasi pu-puwede, that's not how it works. Pasensiya na po." The receptionist gave me an apologetic look.

"What's happening here?" An unfamiliar voice stops the both of us. "Is there a problem?"

Tumalikod ako para makita ito. A woman in an elegant office attire stood behind me. She looked so expensive. Even her voice was velvety, similar to her crimson shaded lips. She had the eyes of a cat, fierce yet innocent-looking. I've never seen an admirable woman in real life before but I now have one standing behind me right now.

Based on my research, this woman is Saint Claire Vega, better known in the business industry as Solaire Vega.

"Hi, can we help you?" The woman smiled at me with furrowed brows filled with curiosity. I can't really tell if she's judging me or not. She looks like she's incredibly nice though.

Before I could even speak, naunahan na agad ako ng receptionist. "Ma'am ano po kasi; sabi po niya buntis siya at si Sir Beau daw po ang ama."  Pag su-sumbong nito sa boss niya at tinignan ako as if I was going crazy.

I could tell that she was stunned by the sudden information that she just heard. "I—I'm sorry. Did I hear that right? Pregnant? You're pregnant and you're saying that my brother is the Dad?" Her mouth hung in shock.

"Yes, I am pregnant, and yes, your brother is the Dad." I said without letting her presence intimidate me.

She forced out a smile but her eyes had emotions of their own, she was bewildered and I could tell. "How about we talk this out somewhere else? Have you told my Kuya Beau about this yet? Come on, I'll take you with me upstairs." She kindly smiled and invited me past the securities.

I was nervous and shy, and I was feeling all these negative things all at once and my anxiety got even worse when we entered the elevator.

"So, about you and my brother. How did you two meet?" She awkwardly asked without looking at me.

I didn't know if I should lie because of how embarassing the situation was, but I chose to tell the truth. "We met at a club and hit it right off." I simply said, and then pursed my lips after. Sobrang nakakahiya.

"Is that so?" She nodded. "How long have you guys been seeing each other then?" Her voice was a lot more lively this time, she now seems to be more interested than skeptical.

I blushed in embarassment because of her question. "Uhm..we're not..we're not together." I shamingly stuttered.

"So what are you guys?" She slowly asked, eyeing me.

"Strangers." I almost choked after saying the word.

I heard her small laugh and  she sounded just as nervous as I did. "Well, this is going to be fun if that's the case."

The elevator ride was finally over and we entered a floor that only had one huge door. I'm guessing this is where Beau Vega's office is, and it seems to me that the floor is only exclusive to him.

"Don't be scared. My brother is nice but I think you already know that so please come in." She nicely smiled and urged me to come in before her.

The office itself was surreal, the window hit the ceiling and the floor and all the furniture looked timeless and expensive. Before us stood a well-built man, with a chiseled jaw and a protruding nose. He looked different during the day-time and seeing him wearing a Tuxedo made him look even more mature, manlier, and intimidating.

"Hey brother!" Solaire tried to grab his attention.

I heard him sigh, he didn't look up right away. When he heard the door make a sound he didn't even move a muscle. He was still focused in whatever he was reading. I gulped when he finally looked up and made eye contact with me after glancing at Solaire.

Solaire smiled and looks for my hand to give it a light squeeze. "Don't be scared, he's literally a Cinnamon Bun behind that scary appearance." She chuckled.

"Who is she?" He asked with a polite smile whilst eyeing me as if trying to remember kung saan niya ako nakita dati.

Solaire giggled. "Do you not remember her?" She teases.

His frown deepens upon hearing the question. "I'm not sure. Have we met before?" He asked me with his eyes darkening in curiosity.

I was more than just shaking, ramdam ko na yung pawis sa mag-kabilang kili-kili ko sa sobrang kaba. Hindi ko na kinakaya yung kabog ng puso ko sa loob ng dibdib ko.

"We sure have." I tried to smile, I was also trying to sound as confident and and stable as possible.

"I don't seem to recall our meeting." He responded. "What's your name again?" He arched a brow.

"You said it way too many times that night, I'm sure you can remember."

His whole aura changed, I couldn't read his eyes anymore. Was he surprised? Shocked? I have no idea.

"Sapphire?"
