The One About Fred

The following Monday, Fred entered his Potions classroom and sat next to George. "Weasley, you're late," sneered Professor Snape, "as I was saying, today we will be making Veritaserum, a truth potion so powerful that three drops would have you spilling your innermost secrets for this entire class to hear."
Fred wasn't listening, he had his head rested on his hand and was watching Emmie who was using her quill to doodle on her desk. "You miss her don't you?" George asked causing Fred to quickly look at him, "what? No!"
"Haha. You miss her," George teased, "I don't miss her, just leave it alright!"

Potions ended and the twins left the classroom, a Slytherin from the year below approached them, "do you want a badge?" He asked holding out a large badge with red lettering:

Support CEDRIC DIGGORY -
the REAL Hogwarts Champion!

"I don't get i-" George started before the boy pressed the badge into his hand and the message vanished and was replaced by another one, glowing green:

POTTER STINKS

"Piss off mate," Fred said as they pushed through the group of Slytherins that gathered around.

That evening Fred skipped dinner, George and Lee found him sat under a staircase. "There you are!" George exclaimed causing Fred to quickly stuff the photograph he was looking at into his robes; a photograph that he took of Emmie on their first date. "You missed dinner," Lee said, "Draco had a fight with Harry, and Hermione has ended up in the hospital wing with her teeth growing by the second."
"It was hilarious, you should have been there - " George noticed Fred's eyes welling up with tears, "are you alright?"
Fred sniffed and turned away from his brother, "I'm fine,"
"Are you sure becau - "
"I'm fine!" Fred shouted.

It had been a week and Fred hadn't got any happier. It was just before the first Triwizard task and all students in the third year and above were permitted to visit Hogsmeade. "We're going to go now mate, you sure you don't want to come?" Lee asked Fred but he just shook his head and went back to banging his head against the wall in the Gryffindor common room in his pajamas.

"I've never seen him this upset," George said to Lee as they walked to Hogsmeade, "I don't know what to do,"
"I know, poor guy. Do you reckon there's anyway he could get her back?" Lee asked, "I don't know, she seems pretty happy, just her and that girl Juniper."
"Wasn't she horrible last year? She was dating that Lucian Bole guy,"
"Yeah well I guess they're friends now," George shrugged.
Suddenly they heard shouts coming from down the street, "wait for me guys!"
They turned around to see Fred running towards them, fully dressed and smiling. "Er, are you alri - " George started but Fred interrupted him, "do you want to go to Honeydukes first or Zonko's?"
"Er, I don't mind, up to you."
George and Lee just looked at each other confused and then back at Fred who was skipping towards The Three Broomsticks.

The Three Broomsticks was packed with Hogwarts students, the boys quickly noticed Ron, who was sat alone and waving them over.
"So how are you after Em - " George kicked Ron under the table and shook his head, "so Butterbeers yeah?"
"I'll get them," Fred said cheerily.
Once he was out of earshot George spoke, "he's gone crazy,"
"What are you on about?" Ron asked, "ever since him and Emmie broke up he's been miserable,"
"I've never seen him like it," Lee added, "yeah and then suddenly today he's really happy, I don't get it."
"Maybe he just suddenly got over her," Ron shrugged, "yeah maybe. I don't know, it's weird."
Fred joined them again with four steaming mugs of Butterbeer, "here you go lads. What are you talking about?" He asked as he sat down, "me and Harry aren't talking," Ron said, "why?"
"I just think it's a bit rude that he found a way to put his name in Goblet Of Fire and didn't tell me. You know I get it, he didn't want anyone else to know but I'm his best mate and he just lied to my face and said he didn't do it."
"Well how do you reckon he did do it?" George asked, "dunno," Ron replied, "he couldn't have used the invisibility cloak,"
"Maybe he got an older student to put it in for him," Lee suggested, "or a teacher!" Fred added.
