The Exams
Emmie and Fred had been together for about a week and everyone knew about them. They were the cutest couple in their year, even the weather seemed to be celebrating; as June approached, the days became cloudless and sultry and all the new couple felt like doing was strolling into the grounds and flopping down on the grass with several pints of iced pumpkin juice, perhaps playing a casual game of Gobstones or watching the giant squid propel itself dreamily across the surface of the lake.
But they couldn't. The exams were nearly upon them, and instead of lazing around outside, they were forced to remain inside the castle, trying to bully their brains into concentration.Fred put his head down on the table, "I'm going to fail Charms," he groaned, "I'm going to fail everything, I can't remember how to make a dizziness draught or anything we've been doing in Transfiguration and what about Astrology, I can't remember if Jupiter has sixty three moons or sixty four... Or was it seventy four. I don't know!" Emmie replied as she bit some skin from the side of her nail,
"stop doing that, it's disgusting," Fred said,
"I'm sorry, I'm nervous."
"Hey, we need to chill out a bit, relax. Do you know what I do when I'm stressed?" He asked her, "I play Quidditch,"
"I'm terrible at Quidditch," she replied, "that's alright, I'll teach you."Emmie, Fred and George walked out onto the Quidditch pitch. "Okay, mount your broom, yeah like that. And kick off the ground," Fred spoke as Emmie tried and failed to even hover on her broomstick, "okay, okay not to worry, get on the back of mine," Emmie got on Fred's broom and he kicked off lightly so they were hovering a few feet above George, "how's that?" He asked her, "fine," she smiled, "okay now George is going throw the Quaffle to you and you have to try and catch it."
George threw the Quaffle but it just slipped through Emmie's fingers, he threw it again and this time she caught it, "brilliant!" Fred exclaimed, "try that a couple more times,"
Emmie and George passed the ball to each other a dozen more times and by the end she could catch it easily, "right, now we're going to go higher so you can try and get it into the goal,"
As they flew higher Emmie grabbed Fred tightly, "I'm getting scared now,"
"You'll be fine, just try and get the Quaffle in,"
She got it in first time so the twins decided to make it slightly harder, George flew up and acted as Keeper. She squinted her eyes at him and jokingly cracked her knuckles, "you're not gonna win Weasley," she said, she held the ball as if she was going to throw it to the left but inside threw it to the right of the goal confusing George, she got it in. Emmie cheered and high fived Fred, "you're good, you could be on the team," he said, she shook her head and laughed, "I definitely couldn't be, I had alot of fun though. Thanks."*
Exam week came and left slowly. Everyday the exams got harder and everyday Emmie was less confident about how she did. On Monday she had Transfiguration where she had to turn a tiny rat into a wardrobe; Emmie's wardrobe came out with fur and a tail. And Charms where they had to draw an age line.
On Tuesday they had Potions, Emmie had remembered what ingredients she needed to make the dizziness draught, but not the quantities, when she tried it at the end she passed out and was almost late to her History of Magic exam. On Wednesday she had Defense Against The Dark Arts and Astronomy, Thursday was Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology and her final exam on Friday was Divination, she predicted that Professor Trelawney, who was not pregnant, would give birth next week.*
The exam results came out on the last day of term, Emmie managed to get five of her nine O.W.L.S and Fred and George scraped a handful each.
