The Second War Begins

Dear Fred,
That was quite the exit.
Everyone's still talking about it here and you've inspired a whole new lot of pranksters that Umbridge and Filch have to deal with. They still haven't figured out how to get rid of the swamp.
Anyway, how's the shop going?
Harry told Ron that he gave you guys the money because your mum thinks you were selling stolen cauldrons or something.

From Emmie xx

To Emmie,
This is George, I told Fred to write to you but he was just so busy dealing with all the women flocking around him because he's rich now.
Just kidding, it's Fred.
The shop is going great, we're getting loads of customers and I'm sure it's going to be even more packed during the summer holidays so you better come work here.
I'm so happy to hear that the young minds of Hogwarts are carrying on our legacy, if they're as good as us then I'll give it two weeks and Umbridge will be running out of the door with her arse on fire.
Mum's been on to us about stealing cauldrons as well. She thinks we're working with the thieving git Mundugus.
Anyway, we miss you loads. See you in July.

The castle grounds were gleaming in the sunlight as though freshly painted; the cloudless sky smiled at itself in the smoothly sparkling lake; the satin green lawns rippled occasionally in a gentle breeze. June had arrived, but to the seventh years this meant only one thing: their NEWTs were upon them at last.
Luckily, unlike OWLs, NEWTs were only spread over a week because Emmie was only doing four subjects.

Monday afternoon came and it was time for Emmie's first exam, Defence Against The Dark Arts. This was a written exam so, when she entered the Great Hall, she noticed the four house tables had been removed and replaced with many small desks all facing the staff-table end of the Hall.

*

"Well, that wasn't too bad, was it?" Lee asked as they left after the exam. "I suppose not, I'm more confident about the practical one though," she replied,
"Yeah, I could only remember two of the five ways to identify a werewolf."

*

On Tuesday Emmie had her first History of Magic exam, another written one all about Emeric the Evil and famous and historical duels, a subject that she had completely forgotten to revise. She was panicking about this one and, where other students had written two pages, she had written two paragraphs.

*

On Wednesday she had two exams, her second Defence Against The Dark Arts, practical this time, and Herbology.

"Emmie Nightingale!" The examiner called and Emmie nervously walked up to them at the front of the hall. She performed the Cruciatus curse perfectly, she resisted the Imperious curse quite well but she struggled on the nonverbal spells.
"Very good indeed!" The examiner said, "now I think that's all, unless you want to get some extra marks by producing a Patronus. Of course that is quite advanced so don't worry if you -"
Emmie raised her wand, "Expecto Patronum!" And her silver bumble bee erupted from the end.
"Excellent!

In the Herbology exam Emmie did well, leaving with only a small bite from the Fanged Geranium.

*

On Thursday, Emmie walked out to the edge of the Forbidden Forest for her Care of Magical Creatures exam. This was a mix of practical and written tests on Thestrals, Bowtruckles and Fwoppers and Glumbumble's (which Emmie got mixed round)
Other than that mistake, she thought she did fairly well.

*

Friday came and it was time for her last exam. The second History of Magic paper on Alchemy in Medieval Europe and broom history. Emmie could never remember the types of brooms and the dates in which they came into fashion but she hoped that her knowledge of Alchemy would be able to save that.

*

It was a week later and Emmie had just left the girls bathroom, she was walking back to the Hufflepuff common room when Ron ran past her with a determined look on his face. He got half way down the hallway before turning around and running back to her.
"Emmie, you've got to help me," he said, out of breath,
"What? What's going on?"
He took a deep breath before speaking quickly, "Harry dreamt that Voldemort was torturing Sirius in the Ministry of Magic, trying to get the weapon -"
"But I don't -" Emmie tried to speak but Ron didn't stop for her.
"We need to use Umbridge's fire again to see if Sirius is at Grimmauld Place -"
"I -"
"If he isn't, we're gonna go save him."
"I - okay - what do you need me to do?" Emmie asked,
"Peeves will listen to you right? He's knows you're friends with the twins?"
"Yeah I guess,"
Ron had a relieved look on his face, "all I need you to do is find Peeves and tell him to smash up the Transfiguration department to distract Umbridge. Can you do that?"
"Yes, of course I can," Emmie replied, "good luck."
She said before Ron ran off again.
Emmie took off in a run in the other direction to find Peeves. When she finally did, he was trying to unscrew a chandelier from the ceiling on the third floor. "Peeves, I need you to smash up the Transfiguration department," she said causing him to stop in his tracks,
Peeves laughed, "only if I can drop this on your head," he said with a wicked smile,
"No!" Emmie yelled and backed away slightly,
"Then no deal," he laughed again,
"Please, please, I'm friends with Fred and George,"
"I know who you are," he almost sung,
"Come on, Umbridge will be heading down there this second," Emmie pleaded.
Peeves stopped for a second, completely still before speaking, "you never said anything about her,"
"So is that a yes?" She asked,
"Okay," he smiled as he slowly drifted towards the Transfiguration department muttering, "some day. Some day I'll get someone with that damn chandelier."

Emmie walked around the school for a bit to see if anything was happening but soon went back to her dorm. She wondered where Harry, Ron and Hermione where at that moment, she guessed, if the plan worked, they would almost be in London by now but that depended on how they were getting there.
She was never sure how she felt about Sirius, for her, one second he was mass murderer on the run and the next he was okay, their friend. And with his cousin being a death eater she didn't really know what to think but she hoped he was okay, she wasn't exactly sure what being tortured by Voldemort entailed but it definitely wasn't good.
It was started to get dark and, although she tried to stay awake, Emmie slowly drifted off to sleep.

*

Emmie woke suddenly to the noise of people whispering in the dorm. She slowly sat up to see what the commotion was.
"Hey, what's happening?" She asked a girl who was sat at the end of her bed chatting to a friend, "there was a duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort," the girl replied, "in the Ministry. Loads of death eaters were there and Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood and Neville... Neville... I can't remember his surname. You're friends with them aren't you?"
"Yeah," Emmie had fully sat up now, "is everyone okay?"
"Yeah, I think they're all in the hospital wing but they're fine. Only one death from what I've heard,"
"A death eater right?" Emmie asked hopefully,
"Yeah, Sirius Black."
