The DA

Emmie was sat in the boys Gryffindor dormitory waiting for Fred to get back from Quidditch practice. It wasn't long before he arrived, sopping wet from the rain, "what're you doing here?" He asked her as he sat on his bed and pulled off his shoes, "I don't know, I just thought I would come to see you," she smiled, sitting next to him and kissing his cheek and down his neck, "oh Jesus um... I would love to... Well yanno but I kind of ate some fever fudge earlier so I could get out of class and -"
"Oh brilliant, how did it go?" Emmie interrupted, "oh great," Fred replied, "my temperature went way up but it's also gave me these massive pus filled boils,"
"Really? I can't see any," she said moving his hair from out of his face, "they're not on my face, they're kind of in a worst place that you can't see,"
"Oh." She looked at him with a disgusted look on her face, "nice."
There was an awkward silence before Fred suddenly jumped up, "I almost forgot. Harry's found somewhere to have the Defence Against The Dark Arts meetings,"
"Brilliant, where?"
"Seventh floor opposite that tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy being clubbed by those trolls. The first meeting is tonight at eight o'clock."

At eight o'clock Fred, George and Emmie entered the spacious room, the walls were lined with wooden bookcases and instead of chairs there were large silk cushions on the floor. A set of shelves at the far end of the room carried a range of instruments such as Sneakoscopes, Secrecy Sensors and a large, cracked Foe-Glass. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, Lavender, Parvati and Dean were already inside waiting.
It wasn't long before every cushion was occupied, "well," said Harry slightly nervously, "this is the place we've found for practice sessions and you've - er - obviously found it okay."
"It's fantastic?" Said Cho and several people murmured their agreement, "it's bizarre," said Fred looking around it, "we once hid from Filch in here, remember George? But it was just a broom cupboard then."
"I think we ought to have a name," Hermione said brightly, "it would promote a feeling of team spirit and unity, don't you think?
"Can we be the Anti-Umbridge League?" Said Angelina hopefully, "or the Ministry of Magic are Morons Group?" Suggested Fred.
"I was thinking," said Hermione frowning at Fred, "more of a name that didn't tell everyone what we were up to, so we can refer to it safely outside meetings."
"The Defence Association?" Said Cho, "the DA for short so nobody knows what we're talking about?"
"Yeah the DA's good," said Ginny, "only lets make it stand for Dumbledore's Army because that's the Ministry's worst fear."
"Perfect!" Said Harry, "shall we get practising then? I was thinking the first thing we should do is Expelliarmus, you know, the Disarming Charm. I know it's pretty basic but I've found it really useful."

Everyone stood up and got into pairs, Fred went first and disarmed Emmie instantly. "Well done Fred," Harry walked past, "let's see you Emmie,"
"Okay," she took a deep breath before turning to Fred, "Expelliarmus," she said shyly but nothing happened, "okay," Harry spoke, "your wand movement was perfect but you need to speak clearly and loudly like you mean it,"
Emmie nodded, "d'you want to practice a couple of times?"
"Expelliarmus!" She said confidently, "Expelliarmus!"
"Perfect," Harry clapped his hand, "now try."
"Expelliarmus!" She said and Fred's wand flew out of his hand, "brilliant!" Harry exclaimed, "remember to be confident."
Fred smiled at her and mouthed, "well done."

They practiced a few more times before Harry blew a whistle, signalling them all to stop. "Well that was pretty good," he said, "but we've overrun, we'd better leave it here. Same time, same place next week?"
"Sooner!" Said Dean eagerly and many people nodded in agreement. Angelina, however, said quickly, "the Quidditch season's about to start, we need team practises too!"
"Let's say next Wednesday night then," said Harry, "we can decided on additional meetings then. Come on, we'd better get going."

*

Over the next few weeks Emmie would sit in class excited for the next DA meeting where she could learn more spells and perfect the ones she already knew.
Hermione had given everyone a gold coin, the serial number would change to what date the next meeting was on and it would grow hot when it changed so, if you're carrying it in your pocket, you'll be able to feel it.
