The Goodbye
"Emmie!" Harry called as he caught up with her, "what's up?"
"Ginny told me to give you this. It's from Mrs Weasley," he handed her a chocolate Easter egg decorated with small, iced Snitches. "Thanks," she smiled, "oh guess what,"
"What?" He asked, "I finally produced a Patronus!"
"Brilliant! What is it?"
"A bee," she replied, less upset about it than before. "Thanks for teaching me and everyone else how to do all those spells. I really appreciate it,"
"Yeah, no problem," he replied, "you can come to me any time if you're struggling with any."
"Thanks,"
"Anyway," he said, "I've got to go to a careers meeting."

"Okay, so Harry needs to get into Umbridge's office to use the Floo network," Fred spoke, "so we are gonna set off a portable swamp in the Entrance Hall to distract her," George added, "so we need you to keep a look out for us."
They entered the Entrance Hall and got ready for the prank. Emmie was hid round the corner when she noticed Filch coming out of a classroom. "Now!" She shouted and suddenly students were covered in a thick, green, sticky substance like Stinksap. "Now you're going to get it," he muttered before running off in the other direction, a few minutes passed and he returned with Umbridge and a few members of the Inquisitorial Squad.
"So!" Said Umbridge triumphantly, "you think it's amusing to turn a school corridor into a swamp, do you?"
"Pretty amusing, yeah," said Fred looking up at her without the slightest sign of fear.
Filch elbowed his way closer to Umbridge, almost crying with happiness.
"I've got the form, Headmistress," he said waving a piece of parchment, "I've got the form and I've got the whips waiting... Oh, let me do it now..."
"Very good, Argus," she said, "you two," she went on, gazing down at Fred and George, "are about to learn what happens to wrong-doers in my school."
"You know what?" Said Fred, "I don't think we are."
He turned to his twin, "George. I think we've outgrown full time education,"
"Yeah I've been feeling that way myself," George replied lightly,
"Time to test our talents in the real world, d'you reckon?" Asked Fred, "definitely," said George.
Before Umbridge could say a word, they raised their wands and said together:
"Accio brooms!"
Emmie heard a loud crash somewhere in the distance, looking to her left, she ducked just in time. The boys' broomsticks, one still trailing the heavy chain and iron peg with which Umbridge had fastened then to the wall when she confiscated them, were hurtling along the corridor towards their owners; they turned left, streaked down the stairs and stopped sharply in front of the twins, the chain clattered on the stone floor.
"We won't be seeing you," Fred told Professor Umbridge, swinging his leg over his broomstick,
"Yeah, don't bother to keep in touch," said George, mounting his own.
Fred winked at Emmie before looking around at the rest of the silent, watchful, crowd.
"If anyone fancies buying a portable swamp come to number ninety-three, Diagon Alley - Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes," he said in a loud voice, "our new premises!"
"Special discounts to Hogwarts students who swear they're going to use our products to get rid of this old bat," added George, pointing at Professor Umbridge.
"STOP THEM!" She shrieked but it was too late. As the Inquisitorial Squad closed in, Fred and George kicked off from the floor, shooting fifteen feet into the air, the iron peg swinging dangerously below. Fred looked across the hall at the poltergeist bobbing above the crowd.
"Give her hell from us, Peeves."
And Peeves swept his belled hat from his head and sprang to a salute as Fred and George wheeled about to tumultuous applause from the students below and flew out of the open front doors into the glorious sunset.
Emmie just stared, mouth wide open not knowing what to do. They were gone, just like that.
*
The story of Fred and George's flight to freedom was retold so often over the next few days that Emmie could tell it would soon become the stuff of legend. They had made sure nobody was likely to forget them soon, for one thing, they had not left instructions on how to remove the swamp that now filled the Entrance Hall and the two large broom shaped holes in Umbridge's office door.
Emmie found herself sat in her dorm staring out of the window most days. She started using puking pastels to get out of classes, she rarely went to the Great Hall for meals, neglecting her studies, not getting enough sleep and, however hard she tried, she couldn't produce her Patronus. She was waiting for Fred's owl, any sign that he hadn't completely ditched her, hadn't forgot about her.
It was the night after the Ravenclaw versus Gryffindor Quidditch match which Emmie, of course, didn't attend, and she was taking a stroll around the castle. She loved the castle at night, it was so quiet and still, the only people she would occasionally see was Luna sleepwalking and Filch, who she would have to hide from.
She decided to go outside as there was a light breeze and it wasn't too cold. She could see someone in the distance, sat under a tree next to lake, skimming stones. As she walked closer she noticed it was Ginny, "hi," she said as she sat down next to her, Ginny looked at her and smiled although her eyes were tired, "hi,"
"What're you doing out here?" Emmie asked her,
"Couldn't sleep,"
"Yeah, me neither."
"Emmie?" Ginny asked,
"Yeah,"
"I don't mean to be rude but you need to get your act together,"
"What?" Emmie asked,
"Well I've noticed you haven't been eating and in general I've seen less and less of you," Ginny replied, "it's because of Fred leaving, isn't it?"
"Yeah,"
Ginny scoffed, "you're doing all of that over a boy that you're not even dating,"
"It's love!" Emmie said angrily,
"It's sad!" Ginny replied, "I get that he left you, but school will be finished in the summer and you'll be able to see him."
"Yeah but -"
"You should be happy for him and George, they're actually doing something with their lives,"
"I am happy for them," Emmie whined but she knew Ginny was right,
"I'm sorry, I just really had to get that off my chest. Don't hate me,"
"No, I needed to hear it. Thanks," Emmie stood up, "I'm gonna go write to him now,"
"Don't tell me what you're doing, just go do it," Ginny replied,
"Right, yeah, sorry,"
"What are you sorry for? Just go!" Ginny shouted making Emmie laugh as she ran back towards the school.
