The Christmas Holidays

Emmie and her parents arrived home. The house felt so warm and nice, decorated for Christmas, there were fairy lights in the window, tinsel around the doors and a large tree in the corner of their living room, it was covered in a mixture of ordinary glass baubles and enchanted baubles which were either floating, glistening or would play a Christmas tune as you walked past them.
"Emmie!" Her sister Mel shouted running into the room, Emmie gave her a hug,
"you okay?" She asked,
"yeah."
"I found some new friends," Emmie whispered,
"ooh who?" Mel asked,
"these boys called-"
"Girls what are you whispering about," their mother interrupted.
"Juniper!" Mel replied,
"aw Juniper, how is she?"
"Oh yeah great," she replied,
"oh good, are you planning on going to see her in the holidays?" Her mother asked.
"She's very busy," Emmie lied,
"oh well, you'll see her when you go back, what about those boys you were with at the train station?" She asked, "Fred and George, yeah I might write to them."

That night Emmie lay awake thinking of the twins, specifically Fred. She kept thinking about the night they spent in the great hall, ever since then she felt some type of way about him but she had to ignore it, she did this every time a boy gave her a bit of attention.

*

Christmas day came and left, it was boxing day when the owl came. Emmie and her family were sat in the dining room eating dinner (leftovers from the day before) when there was a noise that came from the kitchen, it sounded like something hit the window. Emmie's mother went to see what had happened, outside she could see an owl on the floor, it looked dead, it's feathers were patchy and the skin she could see underneath was discoloured like an elderly person, attached to it's leg was a letter and a package.
"Emmie!" Her mother called, "it's for you."
Emmie took the letter first, it read:

To Emmie,
I bet you thought I lied when I said I would write to you but here I am. I hope you're having a good Christmas, me and George have already pranked the whole family so we're sort of bored now. Lee Jordan is having a New Year's party, most of the year are coming so you probably should also we got you a Christmas present, I didn't really know what you would like but I saw you taking photographs in Hogsmeade.

From Fred

Ps. Don't worry about the owl, he's not dead. Leave him a few hours and he'll wake up, he's just a little slow, I'm writing this letter on Christmas Eve so I hope it actually gets to you by Christmas.

Emmie smiled as she came to the end of the letter, when she had finished she picked up the present. She tore back the brown paper to reveal a large white box, she opened that to reveal a camera. Quite a nice camera, way better than the one she already had and probably way more expensive, she hoped Fred didn't spend too much on it.

Emmie rushed to find some parchment and a quill to write back:

To Fred,
Thank you so much for the camera, I love it. Sorry I didn't get you anything.
My Christmas has been pretty good, it's nice to be back with my family and to see some people from my old Muggle school.
I'll have to ask my mum about going to the New Year's party but I think she'll be fine with it as long as she gives me a big talk beforehand about staying safe and stuff.
Give my love to George and the rest of your family for me.

Emmie

By the time she had finished the owl was awake so she tied the letter to its foot and let it fly off. It hit a tree in about ten seconds of its journey but it soon took off again.
