Lily's POV
We made it back to mine around 10:30pm. I was tired and wanted to sleep but Maddie and Jack wanted to stay up talking. I put the tv on for some background noise while they talked and I tried to stay awake.
"Hey, lils, we have some time off in a week and I'm going back to see my parents so we can go and see your parents too if you want, we have two weeks off so we can spend a week at mine then a week at yours if you'd like." Jack explained sitting next to me on the couch.
Oh no. I haven't told him.
I looked a Maddie and she knew I was about to cry. Maddie has been through it all with me. No one understands me as well as Maddie does.
'Have you not told him?' Maddie mouthed to me. I shook my head.
"I need the toilet!" I tried to say as my voice broke. I got up and ran to my bathroom before I burst into tears. I've never been able to talk about it, or even mention it without crying. It's still too new.
"Lily! It's okay, you don't have to talk about it." Maddie said as she ran after me.
"What's going on? Did I say something wrong? We don't have to go if you don't want too." Jack said confused.
He needs to know I guess. I wiped the tears away from my eyes and pretended like I was perfectly okay when deep down I obviously wasn't.
"He needs to know." Maddie said as she pulled me into a hug. I just nodded my head. "Want me to tell him?" She asked me. I just nodded my head again. We walked back to the couch and I sat in the corner trying to zone out to avoid the conversation.
"Jack, I thought Lily would've told you but obviously she hasn't, but I know how difficult it is for her to talk about this. Lily's parents passed away in a house fire a year ago. They were asleep when it happened and Lily and her sister were staying at their brothers house for the night." I heard Maddie tell Jack as I zoned out as memories of that night filled my head.
I was at my brothers new house with my little sister, my brother, his wife and their daughter, they were expecting my nephew at the time. We were spending the night at his as we never saw each other much anymore since he had moved out and had a family. My sister and I had just gotten ready for bed and were about to fall asleep. It was around midnight after we had watched tv and talked all night. Just as I closed my eyes, the door flew open and my brother was stood there crying.
"Its mom and dad... There was a fire... They're not okay, we need to go."
By the time we got to the hospital, we were just in time to say goodbye as it was too late. There was nothing that they could do to save them. They were covered in burns and there was too much smoke in their lungs. We'd lost them. Both parents in one night.
It was never known what started the fire in the house however, the smoke detectors had been disconnected which was why they never woke up. Most of the damage was downstairs but the fire made its way upstairs so we lost a lot of our belongings. We stayed with my brother for a while until I got this job and moved to LA for a fresh start at life; my sister still lives with him as she's only 16. I never told Jack or any of the other boys. David doesn't even know. I came to LA for a new start and to get away from the accident. This new life was basically just a distraction.
I didn't realize that I had been zoned out for so long until I felt Jack pull me into a hug. He didn't say anything and I appreciated that. I just wanted to sleep.
"Can we go to sleep now? I'm tired." I said closing my eyes and opening them slowly.
"Of course we can sweetie." Jack said getting up and holding his hand out. I took it and got up.
"Goodnight Mads, love you!" I said hugging her then following Jack into my bedroom. I grabbed some shorts and a t-shirt and headed to the bathroom to get changed and brush my teeth and wash my face. I washed the tears off my face before anyone saw.
I walked back to my room and Jack was already in bed waiting for me. I got in and cuddled up to him. I let out a breathe before I spoke.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell sooner, I guess it just never came up in conversation before." I said looking down.
"It's okay, we don't have to go back and I wont mention it again unless you want to talk about it." He replied kissing my forehead.
"We can go, you can see your family and I can see if my brother and his family and my sister are free and we can go and visit them maybe." I said.
I do miss my brother and sister like crazy. And my niece and nephew, they're going to have changed so much. They're 4 years old and 9 months by now.
"Can I just say something?" Jack asked. I just nodded my head and looked up at him so our eyes met.
"I love you Lily..."
