"Lucy." Peter whispered as he knocked on the door to her cabin. "Come to the deck with us, maybe we can help make you feel better."
Lucy sniffled as she looked up. She knew that he just wanted to help her, so she agreed. He pulled her into a big hug before they headed to the main deck, awaiting the rest of the siblings.
"Hey, Lucy." Susan tried to smile through her pain, "You know better than anyone that Reep is in Aslan's country. He is much happier now."
"I know Susan, but it still hurts." She dug her face into Peter's side, crying some more.
"When we go back to England, we will have to break the news to Eustace." Edmund told them solemnly. "They really became good friends, you know." Edmund looked around the room at the eyes that fell to the floor. He sighed. "I'm sorry that wasn't very positive."
"It's okay, Edmund, this situation isn't very positive." Lucy tried to give him a smile but failed.
"And I think Eustace would be happy for Reep. After all, he finally got to live his dream. I think I'm going to go over the riddle more. Now that we have all the swords, we need to figure out how to activate their power."
"Are you sure, Lu?" Peter asked.
"Yes, I'm sure." She sniffled, holding back her tears. "We know that we need to gather the swords somewhere. If only I could figure out where. Maybe the answer is on them."
"Well, she is right. We need to find a way to defeat Camus. I'll come with you," Edmund told her as he put a hand on her shoulder.
"Thank you, Edmund."
Later that day, Caspian stood on the top deck shivering as the cold air blew around him. He just couldn't get himself to go inside.
"Caspian?"
"Susan," he smiled at the sight of her.
"Are you okay?" She asked as huddled next to him to keep warm.
"Not particularly," he admitted.
"Talk to me," she whispered into his ear.
"I feel guilty for what happened at the Dark Islands."
"Caspian..."
"I was his King and Captain. He shouldn't have laid his life down like that for us, whatever he may have been thinking."
"It wasn't your fault, Caspian. He died in a noble way and for a noble cause. He saved all our lives. He chose to make that decision. Don't you think we should respect it?" She pointed out. "Besides, I truly believe that his wishes have been fulfilled."
"Do you really think so?"
"I do." She smiled as she looked up at him. "What else were you thinking about before I came and interrupted your thoughts?"
"I'm really that predictable?"
"No, it's just..." She started. "We are a lot alike than most people think." Her eyes dropped to the ground, then back into Caspian's. "So what else?"
He sighed. "I was thinking that I am not a good ruler and that I'll never be good enough for the people of Narnia. I don't know if I can be the person that Aslan saw me to be. I shouldn't have been leading these crew members into spending several months in their lives trying to find people out of thin air."
"I'm on your side, Caspian." She held his hands to comfort him but then realised what he meant. "Oh, I..." She whispered very low for him to hear.
"No one is on my side, Susan." He said, getting irritated after a very long time. "Everyone that I have ever loved or known is gone! My mother died after giving birth to me. My father...Reepicheep is gone. I'm all that is left!"
"Don't say that-"
"I don't want to lose you too!" He held onto her arms and hung his head low.
"Caspian," she cupped his face.
He sighed looking at her, seeing her. "Maybe we shouldn't have admitted our feelings." It hurt him to say so but he knew that both of them were thinking about it. "I don't think that I'll be able to take in you leaving another time, not after we have come closer than we did before."
Susan pulled Caspian into a hug and he rested his head against her shoulder. It had been a long time since he had decided to let anyone in his life.
"No one is alone." Susan whispered as she held onto him tightly.
That's all for this week! See you guys next time!-23LucyGrace
