Just Go On

The sun rose above the mountains, its light shimmering against the trees. A sense of peace and contentment spread throughout every individual. The people of Narnia were happy to see the return of the Kings and Queens of the Old, as well as the arrival of their current King. Their lives were going to change for the best.

The Pevensies lived in the Telmarine castle until Caspian was ready to show them around the rebuilt Cair Paravel. He wanted it to be a surprise for them. He suggested that they go out for a ride and subtly hinted that they were going to be looking around their once home again. Lucy was the most excited because she trusted Caspian's plans and couldn't wait to walk the hallways of Cair Paravel once again. The other three were holding their breath, waiting to be blown away by the surprise.

"I started working on it as soon as you left, when the Professor suggested a change of scenery," Caspian chuckled. "He wanted me to have the best life possible and gave me the suggestion since this land was christened by Aslan himself."

The Pevensies were vaguely listening to what he was saying because the beauty in front of their eyes was an almost exact replica of their castle. The columns stood in their exact position and the marble stones were polished to the right amount. The four siblings felt relief when they realised that they wouldn't have to live with the haunting thought of the time they saw the ruins in the same place that they stood.

"Wait," Susan said, first to catch the change in the room.

"That's right." Caspian smiled at her bewildered expression.

Peter, Edmund and Lucy followed Susan's gaze and gasped in response. "You can't possibly-" Lucy started.

"Please do not disagree." Caspian said.

The podium where the rulers sat down to rule, there stood five thrones side by side to each other with the centre one having the Telmarine-Narnia sigil. The other four thrones were the exact thrones that the Pevensies ruled in.

"You're serious!" Edmund exclaimed, his respect for the Telmarine increasing by the second.

"This is why I have hid this from you for the past month," He started. "I wanted your thrones to stand next to mine because I want you to rule with me." He looked at Peter with eagerness.

"You are the High King now," Peter said modestly.

"No," Caspian shook his head. "We are all Kings and Queens of Narnia." He looked around at all of them. "We are equals." He stated. "There will be no more 'High King'."

"Finally!" Edmund exclaimed. "Because I was tired of..." But before he could say more, he heard sleigh bells from behind him. He turned around to hear Lucy shout in joy.

"Father Christmas! What are you doing here? Oh, it's so good to see you!"

"Hello, Lucy Pevensie! I have actually come here because I have unfinished business with the third Pevensie," he smiled at Edmund.

"Is he talking about me?" Edmund whispered over to Susan.

"Yes! Go on now!" Susan shoved Edmund over.

Edmund slowly walked up to him in a confused manner. "You wanted to see me, sir?"

"Ah, Edmund Pevensie, you don't have to act so formal. I happen to have something for you in my sleigh."

Edmund tried to look over Father Chritmas's shoulder to see what he could possibly mean but couldn't find a way to see over him. After he had given up, Father Christmas pulled out a fancy case. The case was made from gold and silver and was very long. Edmund wondered what could possibly be inside.

"Well, don't just stand there!" Peter shouted from behind him. "Open it!"

Edmund chuckled as he released the latch of the case and slowly opened it. Inside was the most beautiful gift he had received in a long time. He gasped in excitement, but tried to hide it and contain himself. The gift was a beautiful crafted sword, but very different from Peter's. This sword had a sleeker design, and was silver with hits of gold. He looked up at Father Christmas and read the words, "Long Live Aslan", which was engraved on the sword. He took it out of the case and started swinging it, secretly holding back tears of how beautiful and graceful the sword was.

The moment of silence was interrupted by Father Christmas. "I realized your gift was long overdue, since you siblings have had them for over 1300 years. The sword's name is Philipus."

"Like my horse Philip," Edmund smiled.

"How I miss him

"How I miss him." He stood before Father Christmas. "Thank you, sir! This is the best birthday gift ever!"

"Wait," Caspian called out. "It's your birthday?"

"Yes," Edmund smiled. "Yes it is."

"Of course!" Father Christmas called out. "His birthday always falls on the day where you start smelling the snow in the air! It is late autumn afterall."

"Aslan, I hate snow." Edmund mumbled, getting a laugh out of everyone.
