(From here on out, unless stated otherwise, all chapters will be in Adele’s POV)

I groggily open my eyes. Why am I on the couch? I look around as my vision started to slowly come back to focus. I’m in my house’s living room couch instead of my comfortable bed…why?

I slowly get up and stretch my sore arms. I can’t remember anything from last night. The last thing I can remember is seeing majestic blue eyes that resembled Rokkit’s but that’s impossible since he’s in New York.

I shake the thought out of my head and walk upstairs slowly, as to not wake up Max. The wooden hallway is narrow and has a small nightstand at the very end. An old photo of my family sits on it. Max was just a baby when we took that photo. It was before our parents started working long, endless hours.

My gaze slowly drops from the photo and I turn to open my bedroom door and slide in. It’s very dark inside. It is about three in the morning right now so I guess it is reasonable for it to be dark.

I make my way to my closet and slowly open the creaking door. I need to stop by Home Depot and buy a new one. My pajamas, which consist of grey sweatpants and an orange pullover are neatly stored on a hanger.

Orange is my favorite color. Just like Max likes green, I like orange.

I begin to undress and pull of my shirt and put on my pullover.

“What are you doing!” Someone unfamiliar yells from behind me.

“What are you doing in my room!” What is a stranger doing in my house, and more importantly…in my bed! I cover myself up and grab the metal bat that sits on the closet floor.

“Whoa, put the weapon down.” He slowly inches closer to me and my grip on the bat tightens. My heart is beating fiercely against my ribcage as he comes closer.

The stranger reaches out to touch me, and by instinct I swing the bat, hitting him right on his head.

“Oof!” He lands on my closet door, making a bloody mess everywhere.

“What’s going on in here?” Another strange man enters the room with a half asleep look on his face. “Dude, are you okay!” He drops down to take a look at the guy I had hit.

“Yeah, just some blood, but I’m okay…” The one on the floor mumbles. I immediately regret having hit him. I put the bat down on the floor as Max walks in, fully awake.

“What’s going on?” He yawns walking over to us.

“Nothing, Kid.” The one I hit stands up and ruffles Max’s blonde hair.

“Max, you know these guys?” I ask him, confused. I didn’t recognize these guys from the neighborhood. Unless they were some of Adam’s friends. But Adam isn’t here, which means they couldn’t have any connections with him. I’m truly boggled by all of this.

“Yeah,” Max nods. “That’s Rokkit,” He points to the one I hit, “and that’s Josh.” The other guy smiles.

“What…?” I stutter. Rokkit is in New York, not California. Max is just saying things.

“I’m Rokkit, nice to meet you.” He sticks his tongue out at me as he shakes my hand. “You owe me a Band-Aid now.” He pouts, gripping the side of his head.

“I’m so sorry!” I apologize, running out of the room to retrieve the first aid kit to treat his wounds. “Please, sit.” He does as I say.

How could I have hit him with a baseball bat? I feel so dumb for having done that…

“I’m so sorry,” I apologize. “I didn’t mean to hit you.” Rokkit only laughs. He should be cussing me out like most guys would be doing after someone hits them smack dab on the head with a metal bat, not even a wooden one!
