I bit my lip subconsciously, thinking of a perfect way to respond. Rokkit fiddled with his long sleeved sweater.
"If I did, it would start a controversy and I don't want to be known as 'Rokkit's Mistress.'" I laughed nerviously. "Cleo would definitely do a better job than me anyways. She has experiences, the looks and personality!" A strained grinned greeted my lips.
"Cleo is playing opposite of you, and I promised my director that I would find my lead lady." Rokkit whined. He tenderly grabbed my left with his and lifted it up to his lips. "Please?" Rokkit pressed his lips to my hand. A small smile spread across his lips.
My heart beat increased tremendously. Did he really think he could just seduce me into playing his little mind games? Of course I wouldn't fall for his tricks, I needed to be the bigger person.
"I'm going to go see a movie with a friend later today anyways." I shrugged my shoulders apologetically. "Maybe some other time."
Rokkit's facial expressions dropped immediately. His hand went limp letting my hand fall free to my side.
"W-well," Rokkit stuttered and quickly tried to compose himself. "I guess I'll have to find a replacement quickly." He cleared his throat. "I guess I'll call you later." He awkwardly shook my hand and climbed into a rental car.
I was left alone outside the cafe, not that i really minded though, I guess I really needed a breather. My phone began to vibrate in my back pocket. I ignored it and it soon stopped moving.
A couple of people passed by the stairs I was sitting on. The majority of them passed me without even giving me a second glance.
"Addie, you ready to work again?" Hudson tapped my shoulder from behind. Starr cheerfully stood beside him. A colorful magazine was under her right arm.
"Yeah," I nodded quickly. "Do I get regular hours again? No special treatment?"
"No special treatment." Hudson grinned while Starr pulled me up. "We can sell your image now, saying Rokkit's ex works here." Hudson grinned and I just laughed it off. I couldn't wait to get back to the way things used to be.
The next day, I was up bright and early to get to work.
"Addie, can't you get a job that starts later in the morning." Claire growled still half asleep. "I swear...." She slowly fell back to sleep.
"Claire..." I rolled my eyes. I tiptoed to the door and i was almost out of the house when I catch Cameron pacing the living room alone. He was deep in thought, way deeper than I thought he could ever be. Cameron just gave off the vibe of an airhead. He wasn't the type of guy to wake up so early in the morning so I guess you could say I was kind of suspicious.
I cleared my throat to get his attention but he doesn't notice me. I creep a bit closer and hug his neck from behind. Cameron turns around startled but relaxes when he see me. Instead of his usual grin and goofy pick up lines, his lips are pressed into a straight line and he seems to be serious for once in his life.
"You seem stressed." I mused. Cameron relaxes his shoulders and taps the space next to him.
"I am very stressed." He emphasized the very.
"What's up?" I sat next to him. I kept my eye on the clock though to make sure I wouldn't be late for my first day back at work.
"Ex-girlfriends..." He sighed. "Girl's accusing me of being her baby's daddy." Cameron sunk into the couch. "Some girls don't know when to stop running their mouth."
"Some guys don't know when to stop playing the same girls and get serious." I told him. "Get a paternity test if you don't think the kid is yours, but if you don't use protection and she sleeps around, it's a fifty-fifty chance." I shrugged.
Cameron gave me an iffy look. "I hope it isn't mine, I don't want to be dad yet. If I can't stand Clarisse, sure as hell i know I won't stand a kid in diapers around here." Cameron forced a bitter laugh.
"Stop sleeping around, it isn't cool." I clicked my tongue once I saw the time. "I got to go. I got my job back." I gave him a quick hug and got off the couch.
"Hey Addie." I stopped at the door. I small smile crept onto my lips. I had a feeling Cameron was going to use one of his pick up lines to soften the mood.
"Don't tell anyone, please." The look on Cam's eyes was a serious. It couldn't be that serious. Girls had accused him of being their kids dad and all them ended up being false accusations. This one couldn't be any different, could it?
"I won't" I bit my lip as I walked out.
I ended up walking to the Cafe and getting there earlier than usual. Hudson still hadn't arrived, but Starr was situated in the back with her magazines in hand a coffee in another.
"What are you reading about?" I said, plopping down right next to her. She giggled cutely and grabbed her phone.
"Look what Rokkit tweeted!" Starr handed me her blackberry. Twitter had been flooded with tweets from Rokkit. "I wonder what they are all about?" She giggled again. I scrolled up to the top and waited for the page to load. I bit my lip with anticipation.
'Having a great time with my girl on set.'
'On set of my new music video with my lead. (;'
'Going to take a pic with my girlfriend. <3'
My heart skipped a beat when I read the messages. I bit my lip more furiously.
I opened up the picture, and I guess you could say I wasn't surprised. He had taken a picture with Cleo and them in an awkward position. Their lips were pressed against each others in a heated way.
"There aren't about me..." I said, closing the picture and handing her back her phone.
"What?" Starr looked at me surprised. "I thought you were his lead." Starr frowned and apologized quickly. "I'm so sorry! I totally wouldn't of should you if I'd known it was about someone else! I'm terribly sorry! I'm always ruining good relationships!"
"Relax Starr," I patted her shoulder. "Our relationship was starting to fall apart anyways... " I tried to force myself to believe it but deep down, I knew he still meant the world to me.
Starr sniffled and apologized again. "I think we should open up without Hudson. I don't think he's coming in today." And he didn't come in that day. Hudson called in sick later that day. Aparrently he'd come down with a common cold.
"Alright Starr, I guess it's time to close up for the day." The sun had set hours ago and the crickets outside had already began to chirp.
"I guess we should." Starr switched off the lights and put away her broom. "I'll see you Friday morning!"
I nodded and walked off through the park to get home quickly. Tonight felt especially peaceful. Maybe Rokkit and I weren't meant to be. He'd find love else where and I'd find someone that would be here for me.
My phone vibrated in my pocket and I picked it up without reading the caller ID.
"Addie, I need your help. "
