“So, how are you?” Rokkit said, sticking a strawberry in melted chocolate. My mouth watered at the sight.
The background on his side of the chat was different today. It wasn’t the same blank wall I’d gotten used to. Today, the walls the were blue and I could see the bed frame behind him.
“Why are you torturing me!” I whined, rolling over on my bed as he ate the strawberry that was dipped in chocolate.
“What?” He said acting clueless. “Am I making baby Adele cry?” He mocked, stuffing the strawberry in his face.
I pouted and narrowed my eyes at him.
“No, but your making baby Adele’s stomach cry.” I said, sticking my tongue out at him. That only caused him to laugh and pick up and another strawberry. “So where are you today? The background is different.” I pointed out.
He looked over his shoulder and stared at the midnight blue walls and black bed frame, almost as if he hadn’t noticed where he was. Rokkit ruffled his shaggy black hair and smiled.
“I’m at home, actually. The last couple of days I’ve been fly to and from New York.” Rokkit but his lip nervously and sighed before continuing.
“Are you alright? You look a bit pensive.” I said, wanting to touch him, but of course couldn’t.
“I’m just debating how to tell you the news.” He sighed. At his words I immediately remembered the, what I supposed, life sized cut-out of him.
“How tall are you?” I asked. Rokkit looked at funny and shifted his laptop to the side so that I could see him when he stood up.
When he did stand up, I gasped. He was really, really tall…nothing compared the my five foot five self.
“Does this answer your question?” He asked, smirking. “I’m six foot two.”
“You are really tall!” I contemplated, still gawking in awe at him. He tilted the computer screen upward so that I could his face. His black hair fell perfectly over his pretty blue eyes.
“Do you wear color contacts?”
Rokkit grinned like he usually did as he laid back down on his bed.
“Yup. I have brown eyes, but I’m mostly seen with blue so I guess I’ve just adopted it as my natural eye color…even though it’s not.” He nodded slightly and popped a cherry into his mouth.
“No wonder. I knew that it was impossible for a man to have that gorgeous shade of blue.” I smiled. “Speaking of which, you want to know what I saw at the mall today?”
“What did you see?” He asked suspiciously.
“You are coming out with an album? I didn’t know…” I said teasingly. “I saw an announcement at HotTopic.” I shrugged my shoulder. “Congrats!”
A pink tint covered Rokkit’s cheeks as he tried to compose himself. I’m guessing his band’s album coming out was the big news.
“Was that your big news?’ I asked his, smirking at his fully red face.
He shook his head ‘no,’ and shrugged.
“Sort of.” He managed to say. “The actual big news is…” He paused for a dramatic effect. “We just got signed by a major label-”
“That’s great!” I cried out. Max peeped in through my bedroom door with a confused look on his small face.
“Who are you talking to Addie?” Max said, taking a step into my room. Unluckily, my phone wasn’t vibrating so I couldn’t tell him it was Claire. I looked back the screen, where Rokkit was motioning for me to show him who I was talking to.
I sighed and beckoned for Max to come over to my bedside. He did so slowly dragging his feet over my fluffy orange carpet.
“Max, this is Rokkit…” I said, pointing to the black haired beauty.
“Hey, Kiddo.” Rokkit cheerfully said. Max took a seat on my bed and waved. Max was a shy, sensitive, well-behaved little kid. “You’re a shy kid aren’t you? I can change that easily.” Rokkit clapped his hands and rubbed them together in a playful manner.
“What do you mean by that?” Max asked, cocking his head to the side.
“What I mean is that I’m going to visit you soon and we will hang out. I’ll get you out of your shell, Champ!” While he spoke to Max, he looked at me.
“Wait, so you are coming?” I asked. “Max, go get me a glass of water.” I slightly pushed him off the bed as he glided down the staircase.
“Yup…probably.” He sighed. “The label has two locations. One in New York and another in Los Angeles.” He chewed on his bottom lip, which caused me to shiver. “There is a fifty-fifty chance on use going to either of them. We’ll just have to wait and see…” He finished with.
“Hey! Don’t be sad, even if I do get sent to the Big Apple, I promise I’ll still come whisk you off your feet like the prince you want.” Rokkit dramatically flailed his arms in the air while he yelled out lines from “Romeo and Juliet.”
I giggled as a voice yelled at him.
“Mason! I’m taking to my best friend!” He shouted back. A pair of feet stomped into the room and stopped in front of the webcam.
“Didn’t I tell you not to talk to strangers? Now turn that thing off!” Rokkit and Mason fought over the computer, making my screen go blurry as their screen was being pulled off.
“You encourage me to try online dating anyways!” Rokkit’s distinctive voice yelled as Mason let go the computer and stomped away. Rokkit turned back to me and groaned. “I’m sorry, Mason is the big brother of our group. He’s overprotective of all of us and tries to shield us off from the outside world. He wouldn’t even let us form a band unless he was in it.”
Rokkit rolled his eyes. His phone vibrated against his computer and he sighed.
He slid open his phone and check who it was.
“It’s my manager slash producer.” Rokkit mumbled. He smiled at first, but then frowned soon after. “Apparently they found our new bassist. Some girl named…Cleo Langley.” Rokkit pronounced her name and frowned.
“I thought you guys were a boy band?” I asked, taking a big bite of the apple Max had brought me a few minutes ago.
“I did too…” He texted his manager back and waited for his response. “I know where he is going with this and I don’t like it.” Rokkit covered his face with his pale hands.
I nodded even though I didn’t understand what was going on. It was hard having to deal with Rokkit being in a soon to be famous band.
His phone vibrated again and he slid it open.
“I have to go,” He mumbled. “I don’t think I’ll be on, but I’ll be sure to text you. Love you.”
“Love you too.” I smiled as we both logged off.
I sighed as I slid my laptop under my bed. The clock read ten at night and my parents weren’t home. I’d have to call them tomorrow morning and see what’s up. They may always be busy, but it’s just not like them to be gone for so long.
