If you just realize what I just realized,
then we'd be perfect for each other
and will never find another
Just realized what I just realized
we'd never have to wonder if
we missed out on each other now.
Rokkit looks like a completely different person when he performs. He becomes this loose, playful, energetic person. I’m not saying he isn’t like that when we are alone, but he seems to project it more when he’s on stage.
He closes up the song perfectly and smiles at ecstatic audience.
“I’d like to dedicate the next song to someone whom I’ve only known for so long, but she means a lot to me.”
You'll play the love and baby I'll play the lead
So strike a pose and fake a smile you're coming with me
I'll strum my guitar cause girl I know how you are
You're just a little bit camera shy but you're still a star.
Again he finishes the song just perfectly. He does have a talent for this. If he sounds this good live, I’d love to hear him on his album when his voice is auto tuned and remixed to sound better.
After a couple more songs, he finishes up his first live concert since he’s been on the label.
“I love you Los Angeles! I promise I’ll be here many more times!” He yells into the microphone, grinning widely. The crowd goes wide with cheer as Mason, Josh and Rokkit come offstage.
“You did great, Rokkit.” I grin as he comes towards me and tosses me into a bone crushing hug.
“Thanks, Doll.”
“Don’t call me that.” I protest, hugging him back.
“Oh, so you want me to call you Adele?”
“Oh, no, Doll is fine.” I smile. He puts me down just as Josh made his way over to me with Mason at his side.
“Doll, huh? I like that better than your real name.” Josh jokes. He swings an arm over my shoulder.
“I don’t, but you guys refuse to call me Addie like everyone else.” I shrug of his arm and pout.
“That’s because we love you, Baby Doll.” Rokkit smirks and glares at Josh. His arms begins to take the place of Josh’s over my shoulder.
“Now you guys are pushing it.” I glare at both of them.
“You guys did a nice job.” A tall girl, maybe about two inches taller than me says. Rokkit and Josh immediately become uncomfortable at her side. I turn to look at more carefully.
She has chestnut brown hair, and dark eyes. Maybe they are black or brown. I can’t tell from the distance between us. She’s very thin, but doesn’t look anorexic. Her eyes wander from Josh to Mason and then finally to Rokkit with a smile playing on her lips, but when her eyes land on me, she frowns.
I immediately remember when Rokkit mentioned a girl name Cleo being the new bassist. Rokkit had explained to me that Cleo wouldn’t be officially part of the band until later on when they unveil her at an interview.
I didn’t have to be told this was Cleo. I knew it was her.
“Who’s she?” Her voice sounds angelic as she says that.
Mason grins and says, “That’s Rokkit’s girlfriend, Adele.” Her frown was more visible now.
“But aren’t-?” Mason covers her mouth and drags her away without saying anything.
“Isn’t she what?” I ask Josh and Rokkit. Both of them displayed embarrassed looks on their faces.
“It’s not important.” Josh shrugs. “Let’s go out for ice cream!” He leaves immediately to some place
I chew on my lip and call for Max and Claire, who are conveniently talking to a Josh and a girl. I haven’t really introduced them properly yet. All Claire knows is that he’s part of the band.
“Guys, let’s go.” I wave them over and they do come.
“Aw! I was just about to get that guys number.” Claire whines.
“Josh’s number? I’d think you’d already have it.”
“J-Josh’s number? As in…” She looks to her side and there is Josh, next to some fan girl.
He clears his throat and holds his arms wide open. “Took you long enough to realize who I am.” Josh rolls his eyes at her. When she doesn’t go up to hug him, he whines and hugs her forcefully. “You are supposed to hug me back you know?” He grins into her hair.
“I’m sorry.” She immediately hugs him back. “I’m just a little bit stars struck.” Her face is priceless as she fumbles with her words.
“Let’s go!” Rokkit called, putting an arm over my shoulder once again and his free arm over my short brother, Max.
We had to walk down to the ice cream shop since none of the guys had cars over here. I don’t mind though, I like the cold weather.
“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!” Josh, Claire, and Max both link hands and run down the remainder of the street.
“I wish I had brothers…oh wait…I have two.” Rokkit grins.
“I’m glad that I have only one. One’s company, twos a crowd and three’s a party.” I smirk. Rokkit pushes the door open for me. I mumble ‘thanks’ as we walk to where our friends were.
“I bought you guys’ vanilla!” Josh yells, licking his chocolate ice cream violently.
“But I want chocolate.” I state firmly, taking my seat. I’m not a fan of vanilla or strawberry. Chocolate is my sole favorite.
Josh eyes me suspiciously and pulls his ice-cream closer to himself. I lean in more and he shrinks back more.
“Give me your ice cream.” I threaten, holding my spoon menacingly.
“No!”
“Give it to her now…” Rokkit has the same expression on my face. He has the spoon in his hand too.
“No.” Claire and Josh say stubbornly.
“I want it now.”
“No.”
“Dude,” I glare at him. “Give me the ice-cream!” I yell as I jump on his, spilling his frozen dessert all over his white shirt and black vest.
After a second of awkward silence, Rokkit and I break into a fit of laughter.
“It’s not funny.” Josh and Claire mumble. Poor little Max is quietly eating his strawberry ice cream in a corner.
“Sure it’s not.” I say through giggles. “Hold on, I have a phone call.” I mumble pulling out my phone.
“Hello?” I ask.
“Do you know by any chance a Maribel Ryan and Joseph Ryan?”
“Yeah, they are my parents?” My heart slowly begins to sink as I realize who’s calling.
“They’ve just been in an accident.”
This is it. It can’t be.
I drop my phone and run outside with my heart thudding at a thousand beats a minute. Tears trickle down my face as Rokkit chases after me with Max at his side.
“Baby Doll, what’s wrong?” He says; try to calm me through my hysteria.
“My parents…” I sniffle. “They are in the hospital.” Max’s expression changes from a worried look to downright dead one.
