Rokkit’s POV

“No way, dude!” I yell at Mason, who has a wide smirk on his face.

“Yes way, dude.” He replies, setting a hand on my shoulder. His dark eyes convey a mischievous look.

“Where did you see her!” I exclaim, bouncing in my shoes. This is impossible. There is no way she can be in the exact same neighborhood I am in.

“Why should I tell you?” Mason grins. “Maybe I want her for myself. Besides, she’s not that bad looking if I may say so myself.” Mason straightens the tie he is wearing.

We are in California because Lance, our manager slash producer said we will perform in a  small club and if enough people attend and like what we play on our first album, we'll quickly begin another one.

“Hey, hey! You told me to try the site, she’s mine…” I defensively hold up my hands.

“Fine then.” Mason finally caved. He ran hand through his glossy pitch black hair. “The last time I saw her she was in the hotel lobby leading me here. You should…” I didn’t even let him finish his suggestion before I had myself running down the stairs, skipping numerous amounts at a time.

I scan the up and bustling hotel lobby for my blonde.

“So many blondes…” I mumble to myself. “Come on…” I walk through the swarm of teenage girls that are hoping to catch a glimpse of all the new bands that are staying here. The door opens and lets in cool crisp air. I look in that direction and sure enough, my blonde is walking out.

“Oh my Rocket! It’s Rokkit!” A crazed fan looks in my directions and yells.

“Oh snap…” I mumble. I pick up my fit and begin to run for my life. I guess being known makes it impossible to be in public without getting recognized.

“Rokkit, we love you!” One girls screams from behind me. I stop in my tracks and slid into an alleyway. Thank goodness they aren’t the sharpest tool in the shed. I peek to see if the coast is clear.

“Why are you in here?” Another voice asks from behind me. This one is masculine though.

“Josh!” I yell at him, slapping his shoulder. “Don’t scare me like that!”

“Aw! Why not! But back to the real question, why are you in an alleyway?” Josh sits on the ground next to me. He has an orange lollipop in his mouth. That’s Adele’s favorite color…

“ I could ask you the same question.” I retort. Josh only smiles.

“Mason said to follow you, so I did. Your turn!” Josh claps his hands together like a little girl would if she saw her favorite artist perform live.

“Mason said Adele is around here, but I’ve seemed to have lost her.” I mumble, getting up and dusting myself off.

“Really!” Josh pipes up. “Let’s get going!” Josh puts the lollipop back in his mouth and stands on a crate. “We’re on a hunt for our ladies!”

I look at Josh and laugh. “You are ridiculous. Let’s get going, she might’ve gone this way.” We begin to make our way down the streets with our hoods pulled over our heads.

I don’t know my way around here. It’s bad since the sun is beginning to go down and the streets lights were flickering on and off. I pull my jacket closer to me as we walk down the deserted street.

Gang writings litter the walls and sidewalks. It’s a shame it’s like this. Back home there isn’t any bad influences. There probably is, but it’s not out of control like here. I wonder how Adele can live here. It’s not safe at all. She’s better off living in Beverly Hills or Bel Air. But then again, she probably can’t afford to pay the rent in those places/

“Dude, we are completely lost.” Josh says as we make a turn on a random street. This one was lined with friendly looking houses.

“I know.” I whisper. It is freezing outside right now. With every step we take, we get even more lost. Josh doesn’t really seem to care at the moment. He’s too focused on keeping an eye out for a familiar blonde.

Josh takes something out from pocket and turns to his side suspiciously.

“What are you doing?” I stop and turn to look at him. He turns to me and smiles. Josh had put on his blue eyes contacts. He is a light blonde with a pale complexion and dark brown eye. He had convinced me to go with him to buy some blue contacts and I ended up getting mine in the process.

I shake my head at him and smirk.

“I think we should-” Josh runs ahead of me before I can even finish and tackles a bystander, knocking her out cold. “Josh!” I run up to him and pull him off of the young girl. “What’s gotten into you?” I scold.

“I found Addie.” He smirks, holding up her frail, lifeless hand. I stare at the girl and gasp. “I think I hit her pressure point though…” He mumbles.

“You think?” I scold yet again.

“Hey Mister! What are you doing with my sister!” A kid with blonde hair and bright blue eyes says to me. “Let go of her!” He yanks Josh’s hand from the supposed Adele.

“Max?” I ask , raising an eyebrow. He gives me a confused look and I laugh.

“How do you know my name!”

“Because, I’m Rokkit.” Max gawks at me with big blue eyes. They were just as bright as his sisters. This isn’t the same little kid I met the other day. This one is fiery and strong willed, unlike the timid boy I saw online.

“Oh, so you are Addie’s boyfriend?” He asks me. I turned to look at Josh, who is smiling like crazy at the kid’s comment.

“Not yet, but almost. Where do you guys live? I don’t think it’ll be good for Adele to be out here in the cold.” I say, picking up Adele and tossing her over my shoulder. She is very light for a nineteen year-old girl.

Max points with his index finger to an average two story home.

“Are your parents home?” I was very cautious with that. I didn’t want to bring her unconscious body to her home and have her parents maul at me.

“No. Mom and dad are away on a business trip.” Max whispers. Poor kid.  I nod and the three of us make our way up the driveway.

Max was right, no one was home.

I set her down on the couch and Max sat next to her. I imagined our first meeting to be a lot better than this. You know, me arriving on a big white horse and Adele in a historical dress…

Okay maybe not exactly like that, but you get the idea of if being romantic.

“Kiddo, what time is it?”

“It’s nine o’clock.” Max says and I groan. I didn’t want to go back home just yet. I want Adele to see me before I leave.

“Can I stay over? I want to at least see Adele when she’s awake.” I mumble that last part.

“Knock yourself out, Rokkit.” Max shrugs his shoulder and smiles.

“Can I stay too?” Josh pipes up. He’s my brother, just not biologically. We get along just fine and share the same interests, which is why we get confused for being related.

Max nods and yawns. “Yeah, sleep on the couches or on Addie’s bed.” I glare at Josh and count down from three.

On three, we both make our way up the stairs and begin looking Adele’s room. Luckily, I found it on my first try. I lock the door so Josh can’t get in and disturb me.

I look back at her room and smile. Orange is definitely her favorite color. I smile as I look around. Several boy band posters covered her walls. Her desk was filled with old textbooks and reports. It reminds me of when I was in high school, but then I graduated…

I take a seat on the bed and close my eyes, hoping to fall asleep.
