“Addie! Addie!” Claire calls for me. Her six inch heels make a ‘click’ sound as she struggles to keep up with me. “You walk too fast.” She pats my back playfully. A bright grin is spread across her face, just like mine.
“You walk too slow, plus, I’m the one in converse, not heels.” I smirk. We were having another outing with Clarisse and Max, you know, to try to get him out of his ‘dark place.’
“Excuse me for trying to look all dolled up.” She says, fixing her brown curled hair.
“Geez, why’d you get all dressed up? We are only going to Cameron’s place.” I grin. Cameron is one of Claire’s cousins. I swear good looks run in the family. Clarisse looks gorgeous when he’s all dolled up in her one inch heels, curled hair and strawberry lip-gloss covered lips. Not to mention Claire’s high class fashion. She may not be the richest person alive, but she can darn well rock that style.
Cameron, on the other hand, is just as nifty. He’s always in dark wash jeans and an Abercrombie t-shirt with his dirty blonde hair always spiked up in a boyish manner.
“I know, but he’s hosting a party later tonight. I don’t want to go home and change, and walk back there.” Party? Ah snap, I love parties. Well, the ones that don’t have drugs and liquor. It’s hard to find one that doesn’t have them. I’m not one of those girls who are antisocial and don’t like anything. It’s just I don’t have the time to enjoy the little things in life. Trust me, if I could, I’d ditch everything and just relax with Max and Claire at my side. Sadly, I can’t do that. I have duties I have to do.
And no, I don’t get pregnant at parties and I don’t take drinks from strangers. Those are big ‘no-no’s for me.
“And why didn’t you tell me? You know I love them!” I asked loudly.
“Because,” She shrugs her shoulders. “I didn’t remember, but don’t worry, Tori has some clothes that probably fit you.” Tori is Cameron’s younger twin sister. She kind of resembles Claire in a way with her personality and looks.
“Hey Max!” I say to get his attention. He is walking in front me, holding Clarisse’s hand. She recently turned ten, making her Max’s age. In their minds, they were already dating. In my mind, I am thinking, “Don’t even think about it.”
“Yeah?” He says, halting. He had forgiven me earlier the day after I explained to him I had a selfish moment and caved under the pressure of having our mother in the hospital and our father’s death.
Speaking of which, my mother is on her way to recovery. Her cuts and bruises are nearly healed and she’s started speaking once again. I must say, it is truly a miracle that she survived the horrendous plane crash.
“Adam is going to pick you and Clarisse up at six tonight, Claire and I made plans and I can’t kept watch after you guys.”
“Kay.” He said. He simply smiles and continues walking.
We continue to walk another two blocks and Cameron’s house comes into view. He lives with his parents still, even though he does have the money to move out.
Claire knocks on the door twice, and a young, model like woman walks out. People normally assume this is Tori, but boy are they wrong!
“Good morning, Aunt Helen!” Claire greets her dear aunt.
“It’s nice to see you, honey.” The woman says quickly kissing Claire and Clarisse’s cheek. “Now, who is this young man?” She contemplates Max’s appearance. It has been exactly three years since she last saw him. Obviously, he’s grown and matured.
