Hotel Room
Malibu
6:45amKristina wakes up the next morning to the smell of coffee being brewed in the hotel room.
"Morning sleepyhead." She sits up in bed as Tony brings over a cup. Made perfectly. Just the way she likes it.
"Morning. (he hands it to her) Thanks." He takes a sip & sits down on the bed with her. Kristina takes a sip of the coffee, letting the warmth travel down her throat as she prepares what to say next.
"Tony, I have to tell you something." He sips his coffee.
"So tell me."She swallows hard.
"I uh, I....slept with someone." Tony looks over at her but she refuses to meet his eyes. She just stares at the coffee cup. He doesn't know what to say. He gets up, sets his cup down on the desk & faces her. Partially sitting on the desk across from the bed. He loudly takes a deep breath, running his hand over his hair. Taking a moment to process what she said. Kristina waits in suspense for him to reply.
"When?", he finally asks."The night we fought." She finally looks up & meets his eyes.
"Who was it with?", he asks with his arms crossed over his chest. She runs her hand through her hair.
"A guy I met at the bar. Frank." He stays quiet for a moment, contemplating on what to say next.
"Was he better than me?", he asks. Kristina looks surprised by the question."What?", she asks shocked.
"I asked.....was he better than me?""I was drunk so I don't know." He scoffs.
"It's ok because I uh, I slept with someone too. Before you ask...no, not the same girl." She sighs. Kristina sits with her back against the headboard.
"So, what do we do? Where do we go from here?", she asks. He grabs his coffee & sits next to her. He takes a sip then sets it down on the nightstand.
"We just.....move forward & put it behind us. Think you can do that?" She nods.
"Yeah. It was a horrible mistake."
"I understand. Trust me."She kisses him.
"So....you're not mad?" He shakes his head.
"No. I mean, not really. We can't rewind time. Do you regret it?", he asks. She nods.
"Yeah. Do you?", she asks looking over at him.
"Definitely." He kisses her cheek."I'm sorry for being such an asshole towards you", she apologizes. He holds her hand & kisses it.
"Yeah, you most definitely were but I forgive you. I deserved it. I'm sorry for hurting you, Kris."
"Thank you. I forgive you too."She rummages through her purse & takes out her phone.
"What are you doing?", he asks.
"I'm gonna text my dad. I think it's time we talked." He rubs her back. She sends her dad a quick text & he replies back quickly."Dad, it's me. I've given this alot of thought & I've made up my mind. So much time has passed & I really miss you. Is there any way we can come face to face & talk?"
"I can be there next week. One of my coworkers is getting married in L.A. & I'm flying down for the wedding Thursday night. The wedding is Friday. I can meet you at your house on Saturday around noon. If that works?"
"Yeah. That works out perfectly. See you then, dad."
"See you. I love you."
"Love you too, dad."Kristina sets her phone down on the bed.
"Get everything worked out?"
"Yup. He'll be in town next week. We set up up a day & time."
"Do you want or need me to tag along?"
She shrugs.
"Maybe. I don't know yet."
"Well if you need me there, you know I'll be there.""Thank you. I appreciate that but no. I think this is something I need to do alone. We have things we need to hash out." Tony gets up & says, "Maybe you should invite him to your house to talk. Just in case, tensions get too high."
"Yeah, that's what I did. It's the best option. Don't want to hash it out in a public place especially if things get heated.""Understandable & speaking of the best(he takes out a small box from his jacket pocket), I got you something. Come here." She takes a sip of her coffee then gets up & walks over to him. He hands her the box. She opens it, revealing a white gold diamond necklace.
"Oh my god, Tony. It's beautiful." He smiles.
"Turn around, let me put it on you." She turns around, handing him the box. She holds her hair up while he puts the necklace around her neck. Once he clasps it together, he plants kisses her neck.
"I'm glad you like it. Go look at it. Looks great on you."
"Don't be sweet talking me, Stark." She smiles, walks over to the bathroom & looks in the mirror.
"Wow. Tony you really shouldn't have. But thank you. I love it.""Good. I better see you wear it", he laughs. She chuckles.
"It's too beautiful to take off."
"Wonderful to hear. Now let's get our things together so we can go eat breakfast then get out of here." Tony & Kristina head downstairs to the lobby restaurant & sit down to eat a continental breakfast. Afterwards, they head back upstairs to grab their stuff & head to the lobby to check out. When they leave the hotel, Happy is waiting for them at the front entrance.
"Good morning you two. Kristina, that necklace looks great on you.""Aww, thanks Happy", she says hugging him.
"Everything copacetic between you two?"
"Better than it has been", Tony replies.
"Good to hear it." After Tony & Kristina get in, Happy drives off. But they get stuck in morning traffic. They arrive at Kristina's house about an hour later. Happy steps out to open her door. He lets her out & Tony walks her to the front door.
"I'm glad we're back together. I really missed you.""I missed you, too." She takes out her keys from her purse & he pulls her in for a passionate kiss. When they pull away, she unlocks the door.
"See you later, baby."
"See you." He kisses her one more time then says bye. He walks to the car & gets in. She watches him leave before entering the house.
