Chapter 83

Two weeks later
Avengers Compound
7:01am

Kristina & Tony slowly creep into Sophia's room. Sophia is pretending to be asleep. Her eyelids flutter as they approach her bed. They sit down & they each give her a kiss on the forehead.
"Sophia, wake up", Kristina whispers rubbing her back. Her eyes slowly open. Tony & Kristina kiss her cheeks.
"Happy birthday Sophia", they both say.
"Thank you mommy & daddy!" Sophia sits up & hugs them.
"Come on, everyone is waiting for you downstairs", Tony says.
"Why?"
"Because it's your birthday & they made your favorite for breakfast", Kristina replies.
"They made waffles", she asks excitedly.
"Yep. Let's go, munchkin." Sophia leaps out of bed & they rush down to the kitchen.

"Happy birthday Sophia", everyone shouts. Sophia giggles happily seeing the birthday decorations. Tony goes to make Sophia's plate.
"Where's my grandbaby?" Sophia turns around to see David & Angelina.
"Grandpa. Grandma", she says happily. Angelina is taken aback & so is Kristina. Sophia rushes over to them & hugs them. Kristina tries to contain her emotions. Sophia comes over to the table. Tony sits her on the chair & she begins stuffing her face with waffles.
"Are you okay, mommy?"
"I'm okay, munchkin." She kisses the top of Sophia's head & makes herself a plate. Tony comes up behind her.

"Are you alright?"
"Yeah." Tony kisses her cheek & rests his chin on her shoulder, touching her waist.
"I get it. I miss my mom too."
"Sorry I'm late, everyone", Maria says. Kristina & Tony turn to her.
"Right on time."
"Auntie Maria", Sophia shouts.
"Happy birthday, Sophia!" Maria comes over to her & hugs her.
"Thank you", Sophia says.
"Dig in, Maria", Kristina says. There's a huge buffet style breakfast set-up on the island. Waffles, bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fruit & bagels.
"On it. Smells so good in here." She says hi to everyone then makes a plate. Kristina adds whip cream & chocolate syrup to her waffles then sits across from Sophia.
"Mommy, that looks yummy. Can I have some whip cream?" Kristina spoons a bit & feeds it to her.
"Mm."
"This is pretty much all mommy wanted when you were in her belly", Tony says sitting next to her.
"Really?"
"Mm-hmm. Your mom was a fat butt", Tony states.
"Definitely was", Maria joins in.
"Rude." Maria & Tony smile.
"It's okay, mommy. You're not a fat butt."
"Thank you, munchkin. At least someone has my back." Kristina & Sophia bump fists.

"Don't tell me we're late for breakfast", Clint says.
"Hey guys", Tony says.
"Uncle Clint."
"Hey girly." Laura & the kids walk in.
"Sorry we're late", Laura says.
"Nonsense. Made it just in time", Kristina replies. They greet everyone & make their plates.
"Mommy, can we open presents already?"
"How about we do it later?"
"Can I open one, please?" Sophia gives her a pouty lip.
"Yeah, come on mommy. It's her birthday", Clint adds on. She chuckles as she looks at him & he smiles.
"Okay fine but just one & we'll open the rest later." Everyone chit chats as breakfast gets devoured. Once everyone is full, Bruce brings over a present for Sophia.
"Happy birthday, Sophia!" She gasps at the nicely wrapped large box.
"Thank you, uncle Bruce."
"You're welcome." Sophia impatiently tears the box open. Kristina watches from a distance as she cleans up the kitchen. Seeing Sophia so happy makes her smile.
"Wow. Cool."
"Do you like it", Bruce asks.
"Yeah! Thank you", she says hugging him.
"What you got there, munchkin", Tony asks.
"It's a bouncy house, daddy."
"A bouncy house, huh? Should we go inflate it?"
"Please! Can we?!"
"I don't know. We gotta ask mommy."
"Mommy, can we?!"
"Go ahead, munchkin." Sophia cheers.
"Barton, wanna bring the kids outside so they can play?"
"Yeah, let's go kids", Clint says clapping his hands. Everyone leaves except Maria.
