As the months fly by, Tony's fame grows & he eventually helps in settling world peace. The Stark Expo announcement opens in Flushing Meadows, New York. There is a huge turnout. Tony comes out to the stage to give a speech & plays a video of Howard.
Heading backstage, he notices his blood toxicity because damaged veins have now surfaced on his chest & it seems to be spreading. He keeps it a secret from everyone for a bit. On his way out of the Expo press conference, Tony is confronted by a U.S. Marshall who serves him a subpoena for a congressional hearing in D.C. the next day.
Kristina is seated in the middle row as the congressional hearing goes on. Senator Stern tells Tony to turn over his Iron Man armor technology for military application. To which Tony replies, "I am Iron Man. The suit & I are one. To turn over the Iron Man suit would be to turnover myself, which is tantamount to indentured servitude or prostitution, depending on what state you're in. You can't have it."

Kristina hides her laughter while she wipes her nose. Rhodey is brought in to speak for Tony's defense. Tony also argues with Stern after embarrassing Justin Hammer, who was there to testify against Tony.
Tony pulls up footage of Hammer Industries trying to replicate his armor, using a prototype, which failed miserably. Tony once again tells them that they can't have his property. Tony has arrogantly embarrassed the shit out of Senator Stern & Hammer Industries on national television.

As he leaves, Kristina cheers him on & laughs to herself at the whole situation. Kristina & Tony head back to Malibu. When they arrive Tony heads home & Kristina goes to run some errands. J.A.R.V.I.S informs Tony that the blood toxicity levels has elevated.
His palladium that powers the arc reactor which keeps the shrapnel from reaching his heart is slowly killing him. Tony realizes that there's no suitable replacement. Kristina comes home furious. She heads down to the workshop & walks in.
"Uh-uh", Tony says knowing she's angry. "Is this a joke?" Tony finishes off his drink. "What were you thinking?", she asks. "What?"
"What are you thinking?", Kristina says walking over to him. "I'm thinking I'm busy & you're angry about something." "Nothing gets past you, Mr. Stark", she says sarcastically.
