Isabelle's POV

"Your highness" said a servant entering my room "Mrs. Malory has told me to tell you there will be guests during dinner"

"Thank you" I answered in the most elegant voice I could imitate.

The servant bowed, her gaze respectfully lowered, as she exited the room.

Who where the new guests? I wondered.

Half an hour later...

"Princess Isabelle Maverick of Kūmarr only daughter of King Henry the fifth of the kingdom of earth!" An announcer announced.

Why I needed to be announced in my own house, I wasn't sure, but I hoped it was a good reason because over the years it had begun to annoy me.

I glided across the humongous entry way to the long rectangular table which was covered with artfully painted plates, and expensive silverware which was actually gold, several vases with exotic flowers which must have cost a fortune to find and bring decorated the table with splashes of colors, while crystal glasses were filled by the finest liquids.

I gracefully (or so I hoped) made my way to my seat, which was to the right of the head chair, where my father would usually sit, whenever he was here.

I tried to look light, but it was slightly difficult in the new silken scarlet embroidered-with-gold dress I now wore, as my ruby/diamond and gold jewelry tinkled with every step I took, my dark auburn hair was piled elegantly atop my head, and atop that was a ruby/diamond and gold tiara.

Sooo much gold!  I thought annoyed.

I stood in front of her chair before indicating with a nod for everyone to sit down, and for a few moments all that could be heard was the rustling of clothes and the scuffles of chairs as servants helped the nobles to take a seat.

Now seated my green eyes looked up with curiosity. To my left was Amari as usual, but across her was a boy, about her age, I assumed he was one of the newcomers. He wore an emerald green tunic embroidered in the stone itself, his blonde hair was carefully styled and atop it was a crown, and there was something I didn't like about his eyes, they were ice grey-blue, nothing wrong with the color, but in this case, they seemed cold and calculating.

Further down the table in plus of the usual ladies and lords, dukes and duchesses, counts and countesses, were more of the visitors; two men richly dressed, but none as extravagant as the boy across me.

I guessed the blonde boy had a higher status as he was sitting in the seat of the guest of honor. And of course Mrs. Malory was in her usual place across where her father would have sat if he'd been here.

"Good day" I greeted with a nod,

"Good day" everyone around the rectangular table answered mirroring her nod.

"Prince Stamdard Procidenstella, favourite nephew of King Velkian Procidenstella the second of the kingdom of Water" The blonde introduced himself

"Princess Isabelle Maverick, I presume" he said.

"Just like you heard me announced" I muttered,

 "Pardon?" He asked confused,

"I said, Quite, that's me" I said in my most charming tone, plastering a smile on my face.

 The Prince looked suspicious.

The prince quickly brushed it off when the servants began swirling around placing exquisite and rare foods in front of them.

Most of the people where having conversations with the people next, or across them. So, trying to be polite she tried to make conversation with this Prince:

"Sooo... Prince Standard—"

he looked up sharply "Stamdard" he said interrupting me.

"Right" I said before continuing."How is the weather in Zallin, this time of year?" I inquired politely.

I knew it was polite to inquire after the weather, it was a weird tradition of Alantis after all, but for her it was boring, really boring, like bang-your-head-against-a-wall boring, but... Manners.

"Quite pleasant" Prince Standard answered with an obviously forced smile.
