Isabelle's POV

It had been a few days since the Prince, the two dukes had arrived to the palace.

I knew the prince's name was Prince Stamdard, but I kind of just kept calling him Prince Standard, and over the days the name stuck around as I got used to it, much to his infuriation, and my pleasure.

I really didn't like this Prince, and he seemed just as happy to return the feelings. The Prince was literally most of everything I didn't like about court life, he was stiff, annoyingly polite, lavish, and cold, and anyways, sometimes some people simply didn't like a person.

Aside from all that, I had caught him several times! Snooping around the palace.

He'd of course always come up with an excuse as to why he was there, like in my fathers private office, or that time he was checking the restricted part of the library, or even around the front door of my room!

Maybe I was just being overly suspicious, but what if I wasn't?  And if so, what was he looking for?

I nearly fell as I tripped over a stone of the palace garden, but  one of my ten guards caught me.

Sighing I thanked him, and my mind wandered to when I'd been younger, and my father had been at this palace, I remembered a younger version of myself asking my father if I could go to the garden.

'Father, may I go to the garden unguarded?' His answer had been a quick, and firm 'no' ,then when she'd become slightly older 'Father, may I go to the garden unguarded? 'and once again he'd answered the same annoying 'no'  then when she was a little older, 'father may I go to the garden unguarded?' And he answered once again 'no!' ,Then he added 'you know the rules, you can't go anywhere around the house without at least five guards following you around, and for the garden, it's double, the world is dangerous' .

I grinned at the memory, that day, Christopher and I gave the guards quite the day, we spent solely on hiding and dodging them.

I still didn't understand my fathers point, but, it was one of the few memories I had of him. When the war was over, and their side won, maybe I'd get to spend more time with him. And everything would be better, even if Christopher was no longer there.

Suddenly Prince Standard appeared beside me, matching my pace, with Lord Cole trailing behind looking uncomfortable .

"What do you want?" I asked, voice laced with venom,

"oh, nothing" he answered with a malicious grin.

"Ohhhhh! I see, you're walking along side me, when you don't want anything, and this garden is so big you could literally be anywhere which is far away from me! That totally makes sense!" I said sarcastically.

"Well,  if you insist I was going to tell you..." The Prince leaned closer.

"You look like a pig in that dress" he breathed aiming to infuriate me, but I wasn't really affected, because I really didn't care about his opinion.

I rolled my eyes.

"And you have a zit on your nose" I retorted with a smirk.

"Wait! What?!" He yelled, before he ran to the nearest reflective surface he could find (which happened to the armor on one of my guards).

When he couldn't find the zit the Prince sighed in relief, before his expression turned to anger as he realized my 'trick', while the guard's expression turned to annoyance, at the prince for using his armor as a mirror, while Cole's looked amused .

As prince Standard glared at me fuming, I winked and blew a kiss, before turning and continuing my promenade down the garden walkway.

It was childish, I knew, but when none of the adults were around, Princess Isabelle (me) and the Prince Standard would usually have conversations just like, or similar to this one.
