Isabelle's POV

Mrs. Malory stood at one of the windows in my room, my governess was a tall imposing figure that commanded respect. Her face was framed with greying hair while her grey stormy eyes seemed to peer into my very soul as she kept her gloved hands clasped in front of her. The pure white gloves, matched her immaculate, deep green, dress to perfection, showing how much of a perfectionist Mrs. Malory was, I, at the moment was feeling very nervous, it wasn't often the older lady came to me, it had to be something important .

"Princess Isabelle" the older lady began,

"When Prince Stamdard, first arrived, he came with a letter. It was from, His highness, king Velkian Procidenstella of the water kingdom. The letter proposed that his favorite nephew would marry the only daughter  of king Henry, of the earth kingdom. If this unity were to take place, King Velkian wrote that he would offer his full army and lands to help the Earth kingdom's aim, which is to finish the war by defeating Marva the fire kingdom, and the uprisings all over Alantis, as you well know ".

I took a moment to process this information.

"Me?" I whispered in shock.

"Yes your highness. You are the only heir to the Earth kingdom throne"

"And?" I asked, sure there had to be more.

"And, another letter was sent to the fortress of Safin, for king Henry , and he accepted"

I was shocked to the core, I'd known I'd have to marry one day, but not like this, not to him!  Ohh, and him, the person I disliked so much! How could I be his fiancée?

I knew it was for the good of the kingdom, all five kingdoms for that matter, but some small selfish part of me didn't want to do it, but it was, after all, practically done!

I barely noticed when I sat down, how Mrs. Mallory told her she would leave the room to let me get used to the idea, I barely noticed when my governess left my room, all I could do was sit there my thoughts in turmoil as I stared off in the distance, not even really seeing.

When would I marry? It couldn't be that soon, I was after all twelve! Not even a teenager! And the prince was only thirteen! Barely one.

My thoughts kept turning back to one thing, 'I'm going to marry prince Standard, I'm going to marry prince Standard, I'm going to marry prince Standard'

Later that day, at dinner I could barely look at Prince Standard, even when he gave me a fiancée ring, which was an exact double of his, with only a difference in color.

His was gold, with an auburn line going through the middle, and it was decorated with pale green precious stones, while mine had a yellow line going through the middle, and ice blue jewels. All I could do was stare numbly at the ring, trying to accept this new part of my life.
