I awoke early the next morning to the sounds of servants scurrying up and down the halls. I got out of bed, leaving Thorin behind, and went out to investigate. I stuck my head out the door as one of the Dwarf servant women ran up to me.
"What's going on?" I asked.
She seemed flustered. "Oh, it's nothing. Nothing, really!" she insisted. I raised an eyebrow. She cracked. "Master Fili is having a breakdown."
"Fili?" I asked. "Why?"
"I don't know!" And with that, she hurried off down the hall.
I stepped out and walked in the direction towards Fili's room.
I knocked on the door and heard great commotion from inside. I walked in without permission.
"Fili?" I asked. He was throwing things around as the maids tried to quell him. I shoved him down onto his bed. "Fili!"
He looked up at me with tears in his eyes.
"I have nothing left!" he exclaimed. "Nothing!"
I rolled my eyes. "Hush. You don't know what you're saying. You're still intoxicated from last night."
"Aunt," he said standing up. "I have nothing here."
"What do you mean?" I said with a sigh. "You have plenty."
He shook his head. "My brother was my best companion. And now I don't have him anymore because he is married. But I'm not married. And now I won't get to be king, because you and Thorin are going to have a child!"
I put my hands on my hips. "Now, wait just a moment. Thorin and I talked about it last night. We aren't having any children. I don't want them. I'm sure Thorin doesn't want them. You still get to be king." I rested my hand on his shoulder. "And no body is alone forever." I shrugged. "Unless you're the Goblin King."
He chuckled lightly. "But, who would want to marry me?"
I shrugged. "You never know. Perhaps Tauriel has a sister."
He smiled.
"Are you alright now?"
He nodded. "Yes. Thank you," he replied.
I gave him a hug and walked out of his room. Thorin was walking down the hall. He grabbed my hand and pulled me along with him.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Your throne is finished," he informed. My face lit up. "Would you like to see?"
I nodded excitedly. "Yes, of course I would!"
He walked me down the isle way and to the throne room. Two thrones of equal size had been built next to each other. I took a seat in the one that didn't have the Arkenstone above it. Thorin sat next to me.
"Isn't this fantastic?" he asked me. I nodded.
"Yes, my dear." I leaned over and kissed him.
We walked together down to the dining hall to survey the cleaning progress. Thranduil and Bard straightened themselves out from the night before. They had passed out from drunkenness. Well, Thranduil did at least.
"Oakenshield," Bard greeted. "I believe it is time for King Thranduil and I to be heading back to our kingdoms."
Thorin nodded. "Allow us to accompany you."
I nodded as well. "We've got nothing planned for today. Please, it would be our pleasure."
Thranduil and Bard exchanged a glance, but nodded in approval.
"Very well," Thranduil said.
We set off, dropping Bard and Bain in Dale, and continuing on to Greenwood. We made sure Thranduil had a safe arrival before heading back to the Lonely Mountain.
"I think things are finally starting to look up," I said. Thorin nodded. "Only...Fili had sort of a break down this morning."
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Well, everyone around him is getting married, and that includes his brother. He's feeling alone is all. Plus, he thinks he's not going to be heir to the throne anymore if we have a child."
Thorin rolled his eyes. "He's just being Fili."
A branch broke to my right. We stopped our ponies.
"Did you hear that?" I whispered.
Thorin nodded as he drew his sword. I got this strange sensation that we were being watched. I knocked an arrow into my bow and gracefully dismounted off of my pony.
Thorin and I stood next to each other. We looked around. We both could feel a presence. I shot an arrow into the direction that I had heard the noise. I heard a loud, ungodly shriek. Terror washed over me. It was an Orc.
From all around us, they emerged. I shot at several of them while Thorin cut them down. The ponies ran off. I let out a grunt because of the circumstances.
I heard a voice in the distance. A painfully familiar voice.
"Shelob bugdataz!" It shouted. (Translation: Kill them!) Thorin and I looked at each other in horror. It was Azog the Defiler.
